Master list of lister lists... New
« on: January 04, 2011, 04:30:13 PM »
Sorry, couldn't pass up that tongue twister. This thread will feature a master list of links to the posters' lists. I'll try to go alphabetical by last name, as no one will remember our chronological listings. If you've done a list previously that you'd like to see on this list, send me a message and I'll try to find it and link to it.

May I suggest that you be different and list the names in REVERSE alphabetical order?  ;D

Suggestion noted! And followed - I aim to please.

A few things I'd like to clarify:

There is no formal order, anyone can post a list anytime they'd like and I'll try to link to it. As much as it may seem, to my eternal embarrassment, that I have a formal role on here, I do things like this just for fun. The only real benefit that I see to trying to maintain some order is that I think it will help give the proper attention to each participant's list(s). Let's face it, if you decide to throw up a list the same day as Tom D, no one's looking at yours...If we try to keep it somewhat orderly, I think it will help everyone get a fair shot. (As an aside, if you decide to throw up a list, don't do it Mon or Tues or you may be lost in the shadows.)

If someone else would like to do the organizing, feel free to volunteer and I'll gladly step aside. I'm only doing it because 1) I lack a life enough to hopefully stay on top of things and 2) I'm probably more impartial than many, since, as has been pointed out, I don't have a clue about many courses :) and won't likely offer a list myself. I'm sure posters from Indiana think I'm doing this to access certain clubs, but as we all know, I don't really play much golf right now! (But hopefully that will change as my favorite person grows up.)

Have fun everyone and play nice!

If anyone has any suggestions, recommendations, or would like to take over, please post or shoot me a message.

Lastly, please post or shoot me a message if you think we should continue the GTK threads. I think so - there are a lot of very worthy people who haven't gone - but I'm already uncomfortable with my overexposure on here. Please let me know what you think, either publicly or privately.

I vote yes to continuing the GTK thread and any other thread you choose to invent.

If you don't think your list can compete with Tom Doak then don't start it, this place would be a lot more interesting.  The idea that any of these lists are worth a separate list of the lists is insulting in that it assumes we are all a bunch of idiots.

I'd like to see you continue with the GTK threads.  They are some of the most enjoyable on this site.

Or maybe it simply reflects the fact that not everyone wastes as much time on here as you or I, John. But feel free to think of us as idiots if it makes you feel better about yourself...

Remember my unplugged GTK thead and how pissed it made some people?  That was entertaining.  The idea that we now only have official lists is going to the top of my list.

What would be fun is if we had a battle of the lists where two guys post a list at the exact same time and whomever gets the most hits wins. Bring it on Doak. I will put my list up against anybody's.

Here's a thought, John: try to actually read other people's posts! One of the very first sentences in my post states that there is no formal list, I am simply trying to compile a master list to make things a little easier for everyone.

But that obviously assumes you are on here to have fun, learn, participate, share, etc, and we all know that's not the case, so my apologies for even suggesting it.

Who is going to be the first to start of list of raters?  There could be a list of Golf Digest raters ... a list of Golfweek raters ....

Then George could add it to the lists of lists, perhaps consolidate it into a master-rater list ...

I introduce you to Biggie, you introduce me to Dismal, and I think we've both contributed positively to the other's life.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

trouble is the lists are so long and include so many courses that the only sins left to hate are the sins of ommission. Granted, no one talks much about the sins of ommission anymore -- a fertile ground for extra guilt and depair -- but even if they did I wouldn't want it to be used in a gca context....no matter how many hidden gems are suppossedly still hidden.

PS - and then on the side of good and light is Adam C, with a wonderful suggestion!!
