SEE POST 27 for DETAILS OF FRIDAY GOLF AT ST ANDREWS

We have 36 holes at Crail (18 on Balcomie, 18 on Craighead) on Thursday 19 September, 18 on Balcomie on Saturday 21st and 36 holes at Elie on Sunday 22nd.  The cost of that golf works out at £68* per round and for all 5 rounds we have a maximum of 24 players.  For comparison, the regular visitor fee in September is £160 on Balcomie, £120 on Craighead and £135 at Elie.

Bank transfers to:

Sort Code 20-59-59
Account Number 40909661
IBAN GB50BUKB20595940909661

Neither host club was available on Friday 20th but I'm looking at options.  For the moment (and because Crail want paying in full in advance) I'm opening this up for booking.  I'll need payment for the golf to confirm places.

I'm not sure either club needs much introduction here, but Ran profiled the Craighead here https://golfclubatlas.com/countries/craighead1/?portfolioCats=249%2C250%2C251%2C252%2C253%2C254%2C255%2C256%2C257%2C258%2C259%2C260%2C261%2C262%2C263%2C264%2C265%2C266%2C267%2C268%2C269%2C270%2C271%2C272%2C273%2C274%2C275%2C276 and Elie here https://golfclubatlas.com/countries/elie-the-golf-house-club/?portfolioCats=249%2C250%2C251%2C252%2C253%2C254%2C255%2C256%2C257%2C258%2C259%2C260%2C261%2C262%2C263%2C264%2C265%2C266%2C267%2C268%2C269%2C270%2C271%2C272%2C273%2C274%2C275%2C276.  Sean Arble's profile of Elie is here https://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,63182.0.html

I haven't identified one single hotel venue but there are a number of hotels (and pubs) in Crail.  It would be great if as many 'pests as possible were to find accommodation in Crail - it's a cool fishing village with decent places to eat.

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

BUDApest.  I believe the trophy was purchased there.  And hence the habit some have of referring to attendees as "pests".

I’m really disappointed that I’m not going to be able to join you all - a Silver Wedding Anniversary trip has to take priority! - but I will be back in St Andrews on the Sunday afternoon. If anyone is staying on and would like a game on the Monday, I’d be very happy to host at Ladybank, if that’s of any interest.

Question from a Buda newbie.
 • Will there be any hotel reservations as a group or on our own?
 • How typically is ground transport done?  Just get a car or team up organically?
Thanks

Jeff,
There is no group reservation this time. Ground transport happens organically, most of us will be there by car, and there's often spontaneous car pooling. There is a WhatsApp group of participants - if you DM me or Mike W (the group admin), we'll try to add you to the group.

The clubhouse at Crail is one of the best/scenic/friendly places that we have enjoyed. My wife insisted that we play Balcomie again on our visit last year because she loves the course and club house so much. She is correct.

The pours are more than fair (way more so than in St Andrews), and the food is quite good.

The BUDA (whatever it means) should be excellent.

Mark,

Apologies for the delay but I can now confirm I'm in, and have transferred the money this morning. Any issues please send me a WhatsApp.

I should be okay for all 5 rounds so have paid accordingly, but I may head home after morning round at Elie on the Sunday. I'll confirm nearer the time if that's okay?

Thanks for organising!

Cheers, James
