First reported on this site on December 30, 2022, Rod Whitman, Dave Axland, and Keith Cutten will add a third par 3 course (after Preserve and Shorties) and eighth course at the famed Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. Set below Bandon Trails and near Bandon Preserve, the golf course will feature eighteen par 3’s of varying lengths.

Take a first-look at the routing plan below:

In recent years, the firm consisting of Canadians Rod Whitman and Keith Cutten, as well as American Dave Axland have gained traction following their merger in 2020. Notably, their résumé includes Cabot Links, The Nest at Cabot Cape Breton, Sagebrush, Blackhawk, Wild Horse, Algonquin, and more. Their portfolio continues to grow, including anticipated projects like Cabot Pacific in British Columbia, Brantford in Ontario, and The Tribute Club in Oregon set to open in the next few years.

March 14, 2023 Update

Bandon Dunes has officially confirmed the Whitman, Axland, and Cutten announcement, releasing images and the official routing for the par 3 course. Unlike as first reported and the routing plan above, the golf course will feature nineteen holes, making it the only course at Bandon Dunes to feature more than the conventional 18. The holes range from 68 yards to 151 yards, with flexibility to change during construction, a common Whitman trait.

The resort is planning for an October 2024 opening, with construction beginning this month. The golf course is located to the west of the first two holes of Bandon Trails and south of Bandon Preserve, with aggressive landforms perfect for a short course, while too dynamic and rugged for a full regulation course.
