I think Carnoustie might have some flooding issues with Barry Burn on occasion.  I was there once and Carnoustie looked exactly like that picture and we had to cancel and play a dry Panmure with every other course in the area open for business as usual.

I have seen the same type of flooding on the holes that cross the burn on the Struie course at Dornoch. Usually it occurs at high tide during or after a heavy rainfall. The water from the burn that would normally drain into the ocean is pushed back up the burn by the incoming high tide.

The good news is that, once the rain stops and the tide goes out, these courses will drain pretty quickly.

Tain has a similar problem on 16 and 17 when the tide is in, and it rains. The last time we played, the water carry on 16 was about 50 yards longer than the second time.  Seventeen wasn't flooded, but the burn was at the top of its bank.

Not an entirely unusual problem particularly at equinox time. A higher than normal incoming tide blocking greater than usual rainfall from exiting the land via the stream/burn. Powerful thing nature and if unlucky and/or unprepared sandy features etc wash away quickly.

I don't worry much about burn flooding due to tides and unusual rain fall. It's when the sea breaks the natural barrier or eats away at the base of the course that causes me worry.
