I'll be in Florida for a bit starting Wednesday.  Any interest in heading down?  Weather is supposed to be cold in Atlanta this week.

Hey Mac
Hope all is well.

The course most of you guys play completely dwarf anything I have to add maybe with the exception of Hamilton. Those are some great courses. Especially liked Ian comments regarding Enniscrone and Carne.

Mac, I know you have researched Ireland a bit when deciding Ireland vs Scotland for your trip and I have a quick question that maybe you or some other educated members here might help with. I have a group of buddies doing 10 days in Ireland next August and the routing they have chosen takes them right around NI/Ireland which is a long time in the van. I have suggested basically doing the Northwest coast plus NI which is my favorite. I will list the courses in the route they are going and I was hoping if somebody could convince me that the drive is worth it, I know the courses are incredible but could they not save hours on the road for a better routing.
RCD
Royal Portrush
Sligo/Strandhill
Enniscrone
Lahinch
Fota Island
Old Head
Portmarnoch

Apologies for going OT but didnt really want to start a new thread. I appreciate pretty much every course on this list is great as I have played most of them but are they wasting their time in the van?

Did some quick math and they will be spending roughly 19 hours on the road if the weather is good vs about 9 hours if you take away the drive from Belfast to Carne on day one.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

thanks
Tim

I'm always a bit envious of people who say they don't hate anyone.  I don't know why since it is one of the things I do best.

David...any comments on the Pete Dye in French Lick?  I'm interested to play it, but unsure if it is worth the trip.  Comments?

Scratch that...you said Ross.  My bad.

Yeah, I played the Ross in some pretty marginal conditions (very soft overall and the greens were slow and bumpy) so I will reserve judgment until I get a chance to play it again.

Listed in order of preference

Kington
Burnham x 2
Southfield
Players Club Stranahan
Formby
Alwoodley
Seascale
Minchinhampton Old
Finham

I liked all the courses a load except for Minch Old and Finham.  I won't be making any effort to go back to Finham, but I will give Minch Old another go - it has a certain appeal which is undeniable.

Ciao

The only from August which remains the same is Burnham.

In order of preference

Burnham x 3
Beau Desert
Notts
Little Aston
Coxmoor
The New Course
Temple
TOC

I would go back to see them all though.

Ciao
