Does my title even make sense?haha...oh well
As i was browsing the GD website i came upon an index that had all the courses that have ever been ranked in GD top 100 list. Needless to say i was shocked by 3 things

1. The number of courses that were on the list for 1 or 2 years and then dropped off the list forever

2. The number of courses that entered the list in the top 20 or 30 and then would fall back to 80 or 90 or possibly even off the list

3. The number of courses that Jack Nicklaus has built over the years that make up Point #1 above

what do you guys think of this?

* Your title makes sense.
* It happens often.
* A number of reasons.

It will be a good thread, but some "culprits" are HAIG POINT and WILD DUNES.

Some two thousand years or so ago a Roman poet by the name of Horace uttered a phrase that applies equally to golf courses, stock market favorites, politicians and athletes. I may be off slightly but it went something like this.

"Those that are mighty shall fall, those that have fallen shall surely rise again."

You are correct.  There are many reasons courses fall from glory.

Among those reasons is that the fact that many golf courses have been built in the United States during the past twenty years. Suggesting that Wild Dunes today is not Top 100 material does not make the case that it wasn't back when the course opened. The course, in my judgment, is not what it once was and many other better courses have since been built.
