Personally I just found that it played long.
When I played it, the wind felt like it was in our face the whole time, there were a lot of uphill shots, and the bunkering around the greens will hurt you if you aren't playing well.
I didn't have my best day there, and didn't score well - but even with that said, I agree with the OP about it not necessarily being as difficult as I was anticipating.
