One of Canada’s hardest tee times, Magna opened its doors to a rare event, hosting the LPGA tour this year. But behind the gates, this 2001 Doug Carrick design is flashy and bold, big and playable. Sure, from the tips it measures close to 7400 yards, but for members, there’s lots of room, and it’s a fun round. See below for yourself!

Carrick’s bunkering merges together to create a sea of white on the 6th
The first par 5 comes at the 7th, a mid-length three shotter gettable for the big hitters
At 211 yards, the 8th joins the 2nd as the second 210+ par 3 at Magna
To finish the front nine, the 9th is a short par 5 at 535 yards
The 10th is a mid length 4 with big playing corridors, allowing shot making and fun recovery options
The 11th is yet again a long 4, moving to the right up & over the hill

At 192 yards, the 13th is another long-ish par 3 at Magna
The hole at Magna everyone talks about, the swooping dogleg left par 5, 14th is a great risk-reward par 5 moving down the hillside
The short par 4, 15th features numerous bunkers the player needs to avoid
Featuring some of the best natural land movement on the course, the 16th awkwardly features a tree in the middle of the fairway. Luckily, it isn’t in play, and is only a visual challenge
The shortest 3 on the course, the 173 yard 17th plays to a tough green complex tucked behind a pond
A meaty 480 yards moving back up the hill, the 18th at Magna with the clubhouse looking over the finishing hole

Overall, Magna is a fun round of golf. Is it the best golf course in the city? No, but you’re up against some pretty heavy hitters. It is, however, worth a spin around once to see, and features one of Canada’s most boisterous clubhouses.
