Is this your most frequently visited website?
« on: February 06, 2004, 12:40:40 PM »
I was curious.  Is this the website that you visit most frequently?  I'm starting to get addicted to the gin rummy game at Yahoo now, too.  I'd say I visit the following the most:

CNN
Atlanta Journal/Constitution
GolfClubAtlas.com
Yahoo! Games - Gin
eBay

You should read the crap posters from this site post on the GolfDigest message board....quassi was ripping Apache Stronghold the other day....priceless.

I basically visit other web sites to research what I find on here and check the weather to golf...two straight weeks as of today that I have not golfed my ball...a record during a healthy state of affairs......That is why some threads look like the Huckaby/Barney show...and for that I apologize.

1. Google
2. ESPN.com
3. GolfClubAtlas

And I took full blame then, and retain such now.  My utter ignorance in not trumpeting a course I have never seen remains inexcusable.

There's a golf digest message board? Oh man... jakab, care to take our parries over there?  Seems like a good place...

As for most visited sites, for me it goes:

cloroxweb (internal web site, comes up when I turn on the machine whether I like it or not)

this one

espn.com (man does not live by golf alone)

espn.com message board for West Coast Conference.  Tuco in particular ought to check that out... as pollyanna and namby pamby as I appear in hear, I am the prick of all pricks in there.  I am proud to be the most hated man in Spokane, Washington, as I despise Gonzaga and all it stands for.  Lately things are calm there as some reasonable Zag fans post.  You should have read it last year and the year before...
No, I take no stands.   ;D

Huck,

I've checked out the GD mb a few times.  quasssi and acer2x (Steve Shaffer) post there, in addition to here.

Maybe I'm remembering someone else, but didn't you used to post occasionally on RSG?  I've only peeked at that once or twice, but I thought I remember one or two from here over there.

Scott:

Oh yes, many years ago I was a regular on rec.sports.golf, as was Dan King and Tommy and several others who now post here.  Does the name Ken Pitts ring a bell?  But it's been at least 7-8 years since I've posted there...maybe there is some other Huckaby, god forbid?   ;D

Many others came from golfonline's grillroom...

golf magazine architecture discussion group...

19th hole...

several others.

there have been many predecessors to this discussion group, that's for sure.  Many of us have flowed from one to the next to the next... this is the best by far.

whoops!  I do still go to that, Dan.  Or at least that's my link... it takes me to pgatour.com, as you so painfully know! But I do go to that to check scores when I feel the need.  It doesn't happen very often.

GCA
espn.com
foxnews.com
weather.com
mlb.com
pgatour.com

and ebay, but I am trying to wean myself off of ebay this year.

Yes, without a doubt, this is my most frequently visited website.  I also read a few newspapers from local areas I'm interested in including my old hometown (Madison, WI) and the North Platte Telegraph online (one step better than the hooterville weekly shopper), and I read a regional local news and community journal in Italian from the area of Italy that my family originates from.  I do most of this while I have on one of two or three Italian radio on the web sites playing the music that I love in the background.  Once in a while I also play a Celtic station on the web.

Like most of you have stated, I use Google alot to research or verify or debunk things stated in this ongoing discussion on GCA.com.

Now, if I could only get off the damn web and get a real life. ::)  But, on the other hand, it is a mental health benefit to keep me busy in this cold-snowy-cabin fever inducing winter weather.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

GolfClubAtlas is the clear winner - nothing beats this site for course profiles, interesting discussions of current topics, interviews, clubhouse debates and the latest news on course development projects.  Plus I need to know where in the world Paul Turner is playing  ;).

Other favorites include:

NYTimes.com
google

DrudgeReport
MapQuest
HotMail
CharlieRose

My, what an erudite and socially-conscious group!   ::)

Why do I suspect that many listings are strangely incomplete?  ;)

Wait, let me change mine...

1) Citizensforabetterworld.com
2) ReligionandPolitics.com
3) Golf Club Atlas

mike,

I had no links listed to make me look erudite and socially conscious.  I'm not sure what that says about me, though.  :P

I'm waiting for Duran's and Papazian's lists with townhall.com and anncoulterisagoddess.com.

I guess you could call me 'spiritual', since the site I visit often with the longest URL above could be considered "uplifting".

I have it on reasonably good authority that those nymphos at diseasefreenymphoswithbigjugs.com are not as disease-free as they would have you believe. Nor are their jugs real.

And they're not really nymphos.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Scott;

I believe it was also Shivas who is racking up the most visits to the anncoulterisgoddess.com site.

Of course, he claims it's purely political interest, but we know better.

Four golf related sites (mainly GCA, pgatour.com and the Australian iseekgolf.com.au), five or six fine wine related sites, a news site and a cricket site are what I visit a minimum of 4-5 times per week.

JakaB:

Thanks for the plug for my 2 liner on Apache Stronghold.

My wife and I played it 2 years ago in August and holes 1 and 2 had no grass, none, zero, zippo.

The balance of the course was in terrible condition. We played winter rules, which meant moving the ball 15 yards to find a patch of grass.

When we finished, we went to the pro shop, expressed our disappointment, pointed out that I always ask if the course is being aeriated when we are going to play, and is it in good condition. The guy on the phone just lied to me. The guy behind the desk could care less.

We stayed in that broken down Best Western, drove 2 hours each way to get there,  ate the buffet all the worst food ever, and you critize me for a 2 liner.

I guess you needed to be there! I suggest you go to Apache Stronghold and I hope you have a better time. ;D ;D ;D
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta
