"Vast sums are being spent on research by the best brains to dredge out a few extra yards and we are all flattered by the results. But enough is enough. Continued unchecked, the game is bound to suffer even more than it has."

He continued that the ruling bodies have let advances in technology get beyond them and that the "courses are our game, and they are being killed off."

Who said this? What do you think?

Mark. DUUUUUDE. A+ for effort, but...seems that this concept is not new. ;)

All scholars of the game realize that the evolution of the ball have resulted in changes (architectural and otherwise). The elements are in place for ruining the game and many older courses. Seriously. Why is this so hard to understand?

I had a discussion about this "ball thing" with a friend and he was diametrically opposed. Me, I can see and accept both sides to most "binary" arguments/topics, but not on this one. Manufacturers stand down! I see the future and it looks like that silly git on the Titleist commericials in the tartan plaid.

By the way , of the 152 respondents to the rules commitee's letter, 141 were in favor of the following(in 1912!!)," to ordain that all entrants for the Championship use balls of the same material and structure" ...this for the British Amateur , I assume in 1912.  the letter was sent in the spring of 1912....If we would just agree to lighten the weight requirement for balls , that would do it.  I'll bet 10-15% less carry could be uniformly achieved.
