And that doesn't even take into account Old Sawmill - Tyler Rae's new private west of Charleston, and Kawonu GC Andrew Green's new private coming in my backyard of Simpsonville.

Here is a list of US states with a count of new, rebuild, renovation, etc.. for 2024. Projections are courses will open in 2024 through 2030. (sourced from https://fescue.github.io/ ). The values are probably not absolute, but it gives a rough idea which states are active with course work. Florida and Texas are the most active for new courses.


No distinction between public v private.

Funny, there’s always a huge wave of new golf on the books every time the cracks appear. A large uptick in projects usually indicates the end of the cycle in golf development, not the beginning.

Hope I’m wrong. Started looking at a new Kevlar canoe if I’m not….😊

I think you may be right Ian.  AND maybe private golf is booming but the old model of member owned 507c3 clubs doesn't seem to happen much anymore.  Hey..do you canoe?

Sadly with income inequality and inflation growing the game is more lip service than ever.  I give credit to angc for starting the patch and other amateur gold support.  NLT in DC is great but really where is muni golf growing?  That is the entry point for kids regardless of how much you parents make.


Congaree has a charitable mission and certainly the more of those the better the game will be, but the owners want a profit.
