Tartan East vs. Golf Club of Dublin
« on: July 01, 2023, 03:46:20 PM »
For those that have played both, you have time for one of the two. Which is it and why?

NO, you don't have access to private clubs in Columbus.

YES, you have to play one of the two courses.

NO, you don't know of another public option worth checking out in greater Columbus.

Thank you in advance. Direct Messages are welcome (unless you have me blocked, as I block no one.)

Well, since Tartan has been closed for 5 years and has two data centers under construction on the land… I’d say GCDublin is a better golf experience.

Tartan East was the better course.  It had a better routing and had almost no houses on it.  Whereas GC of Dublin was a subdivision course with houses lining both sides of most of the holes.  Yes it sells itself as an Irish links, but . . .

However as was previously stated, Tartan East has been closed for sometime!

Eric is correct. What was once the new Winding Hollow Country Club and then became Tartan East, is no more. The Golf Club of Dublin is a fun course with fairly wide corridors of play (through houses) and the conditions are usually good. There are a few awkward holes (and a gimmicky rock wall) but nothing horribly offensive. The most startling thing about the course is the cost. It is pricey for what it is but it's in an affluent area and you could do worse.

HAHAHAHA ... That made for a short thread.

Wish I had found time to play it. I'd already played two NLEs in Columbus (Cook's Creek and Phoenix Golf Links) so this would have made for a nice triumvirate.

Dublin looks to have not one, not two but three par 3’s with lakes behind the green.
