Is there too much (or not enough) razzamatazz in elite and other golf events?

Spectators don’t need to act like their name was just called to “Come on down!!!” on the Price is Right.

Get ready for some real idiocy among the U.S. spectators at the Ryder Cup.

My dear Thomas,
You have stirred, nay disturbed, my inner soul by intimating that there should be even a smidgin of "razzamatazz" on the hallowed turf of a golf course. Golf should be a relatively solemn, somniferous event where actions both heroic and tragic can unfold in an atmosphere of hushed silence, respect and subdued reverence. Golfers passions, tumultuous feelings and inner fears roil within and to exacerbate the golfers' underlying fragile state with "razzamatazz" would be a disgrace. This "blot on the escutcheon" of golf, any "razzamatazz", would no doubt damage the golfers' equanimity, ruin concentration, deflect them from purpose and generally be calamitous.
No,no, no!! No razzamatazzz thank you very much.
Now Peter Pallotta may be all for "razzamatazz" but only, I suspect, because it rhymes with jazz!
Orra best, Colin

Given that all the villains play for America maybe we could all dress poorly and act like drunken Irishmen.

You could say it started in the 60s with the Crosby and celebrities, drinking and partying.   Phoenix took it to a new level.

After the rest of Europe was allowed to join the Ryder Cup and Seve waiving the flag and really inspiring patriotism, it got out of control.

Now you have players taking sides against each other like Brooks and Bryson its too late for the PGA to control it.

Wondering if folks posting herein would like to actually participate as players in events full of razzamatazz?
One of the appeals of golf has always been for me at least the peace and tranquility of being out in the open air with not many others around. The ability to get away from the hurly-burly of modern life.
Each to their own though.

Sadly you have to ignore the people who are enjoying themselves and plow through your personal demons.

Thomas,

I think this may be an interesting topic, but I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.  Can you provide further context and perhaps a few examples?

Thanks!
