I think that you and I might have some attention span issues. Doak's "Making of Pacific Dunes" has been sitting on my credenza for a few weeks and I am having a hard time getting through the quarterly "The Golfer's Journal" before the new ones arrive. Golf journalism has definitely taken off since the barriers to publishing have been destroyed.
To my horror, there is a service that people, typically a family member, pays for which sends you a topic to address each week and culminates in a nice book that the buyer receives at the end of the year. Ours was a "gift" to my wife from our son which is at times burdensome. So far she has pawned off three topics on me. The last, "Why Do You Play Golf", became somewhat of an opus for me, nearly 20 pages long (don't worry, I won't send it to you).
Wexler has written other interesting books (on NLEs). I am trying to diversify how I spend my time away from golf, but I guess I'll order this one. BTW, it took me a while to finish Walter Isaacson's "Benjamin Franklin", but it is an excellent read. Franklin's writing on industry, effort, frugality, and the effects of government spending is particularly applicable in our times when $150 might be considered an "affordable" greenfee.
