Passengers traveling to the US are still required to prove a negative result from a test conducted within three days of travel. I'm not the least bit concerned about becoming sick from Covid by traveling to the UK, but do fear being stranded for ten days due to a false positive test result. Irrational? Perhaps. But I think it's a greater risk than getting sick, especially for someone who has been vaccinated.

...Or be one of the unlucky 12%, as the approx effectiveness is 88% for the double dose Vaccines against the Delta Variant.

P.S.  I also wonder how UK officials will know the traveler presents a legit Vaccination card.  There is no national registry that I'm aware of for US vaccinations and they aren't too difficult to reproduce or fake.

"Passengers traveling to the US are still required to prove a negative result from a test conducted within three days of travel."

I believe this applies only to US citizens/residents returning to the US from abroad. The US is still making it very tough for visitors from the UK, EU or elsewhere to enter the US.

I’m sure it will be the same as it is now for other countries that have been welcoming fully vaccinated US travelers the last few months.  (Italy,France,Spain, etc) The CDC card is accepted as are digital apps that are either from states or ones like VeriFly or Clear.

WASHINGTON, July 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) both issued on Monday their highest warnings against travel to the United Kingdom because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in that country.

Of course we are welcome to go to the UK.  It's not like we are bringing them more COVID.  They already have plenty of it to go around.  The question is all about whether you think you'll avoid getting infected while you are there.

If you want to go to New Zealand, it's a different ballgame:  for them, Americans are the bigger risk, so quarantine it is.

I am supposed to go back in September / October, yet, from everything I am reading, that will be more risky than it was in June because (a) the Delta variant has spread further and (b) the efficacy of the vaccines seems to be wearing down over the course of a few months, especially against Delta.  The data on that is still evolving, but thank goodness other countries like Israel are tracking it, since the USA decided not to.

It appears that the vaccine still protects you from getting sick or dying from the Delta variant but, unlike OG Covid or the Alpha variant, it is much easier for a vaccinated person to pass on the virus to others and to have a mild case.

I am going to Buda period.

I have had the Wuhan virus and been vaccinated. I have re-entry test redundancy. If I do test positive i shall sharpen up my visa and play more days of golf and rebook a flight who cares what it costs cause if I take your all's logic down one road I am going to probably die anyway. I think you are probably supposed to self-quarantine if you test positive.  But I’ve heard a few stories in the past month of people blatantly violating the quarantine rules so they could get their travel fix.

Ward,

I played Bethpage Blue after a few weeks out from a tweaked back. Golf is truly great for your mental health. If you need a playing partner on a JFK layover, I am in!!

Real world data. The following is real from the front lines:

My older son and his roommate (also a Naval Aviator), both were vaccinated in the Spring, and they both tested positive last week in Jacksonville - a Delta variant hotspot. They are on lockdown till next week. They had mild symptoms for a day or two, and they are watching lots of Olympics this week. There were dozens of people in their Squadron that tested positive last week, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. The Military can't require vaccines when they are "Emergency Use Authorization”. Now there is new data and the virus appears to be ahead of the vaccines - Delta variant does not care about your vaccine… My son had Pfizer, not sure about his roommate. And where this goes, I don’t know….

Bloomberg knows data, and I am guessing his school is decent at this. Take the test -

Currently my profile is I have a 4 in 10 million chance of dying from Covid...
