PGA National in West Palm Beach Opens a 9 hole course by Andy Staples

The resort officially opened The Staple this past Thursday, a nine-hole, par-3 course that can be just as challenging as the Champion with its dramatically sloped greens, but a heck of a lot more fun. Especially for brand-new golfers, weekend hackers and others who can appreciate a place where they can tee it up from wherever they desire with a bunch of family and friends, listen to music and have food and beverages provided for them.
The Staple was created by golf course architect Andy Staples, who designed the layout on the 1st and 18th holes of what was the resort’s Squire course. He worked closely with PGA National’s director of agronomy Jeremiah Lockhart and his staff, and also “reimagined” a short (approximately 5,850 yards), innovative 18-hole course on the Squire’s remaining 16 holes called The Match that is slated to open around Labor Day.
