Meghan is from south Jersey; her father was a postal inspector.  Checks all the boxes you naysayers are complaining about.  Back off.

I think many are missing the point.  Yes, better late than never….but, why did it have to be arguably some of the biggest names in golf?
If you knew the names Sarah Ingram and Meghan Stasi before yesterday, I'd be impressed.

And if more than 10 random golfers knew those names out of 50, I'd be surprised.

I'd guess it's more like 1 out of 100(from random golfers)
and I seriously doubt 10 out of 50 could name last year's men's Mid Am champ, or any for that matter.

Just a little stunned that anyone not a member would be offended by a club's choice to invite three highly accomplished golfers.
PV is a golf club and they invited golfers who are good at their craft-at a course where competency is at a premium.
The idea that a NON golfer should be invited is simply absurd.
Rather than simply ticking a PC box, they invited three people who would fit into the course and club culture right away-as players at a club that values players-not as token females.
There are many CEOs, bankers and celebrities, both male and female, that I would rather stick needles in my eyes than play 18 holes with at Pine Valley, or anywhere for that matter.

I'd play with all three of the new invites in a heartbeat-anywhere.

+1.  I don't know anything about PV, so I'll assume they've invited golfers whose company they have reason to believe they will enjoy on and off the course.  Jeez.

Conde Rice was a member of Cypress Point, Augusta National and Shoal Creek so they could claim two minority members in one. :P
The comment was meant as a slight to the clubs, not Ms. Rice. As an internet Nazi are you happy now?

What an astonishingly strange thing to commit to the internet under your real name in 2021.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Erik, give the crowd you hang with around here a little credit.
Well, fair enough. But 95% of golfers would have no clue who you're talking about. Or if Jeff is right, 99%.  :)

If I were a member, I'd try to watch Annika play a round or two.

I think it's great that three accomplished female golfers are joining PV.

PS - My experiences at PV during the Crump Cup and Philadelphia Open is that the members all treated my wife like royalty.   I fondly remember Mr. Ott taking time to explain the design of #3 to Laura - he was so proud of the golf course and loved to share his joy.

For what it’s worth I watched Meghan Stasi bounce through the approach a 6-iron on Streamsong Blue #16 that hit the flagstick about half way up during the USGA 2016 Four-ball.

On the men's side, they have several members who are primarily known due to their golfing accomplishments, so these three are not out of place in that respect.

I met a guy who made the finals of the US AM thirty years ago. He was offered a membership based on his play.

If the new members have been seeking membership, good for them.If their "golf reputation" trumped others, bad on P.V.

Peter Pine Valley doesn’t have applicants for membership, names are put forward. I’d guest the Board invited the three ladies in question to become members.

Dan with Pine Valley being rated number  1 in the world by most ratings with Cypress Point occasionally pipping them your course of comparable prestige is easy dentified 🤣

FWIW, one of the first things I ever heard about PV is that if you wanted to join, you'd have better luck if you won the Mid-Am than if you made millions of dollars.

I remember watching Sarah play as a kid at Greenspring Valley Hunt Club. There were quite a few PV members at that club as well. Her husband is a pretty good guy too.

When I referred to golfer I should have stated accomplished golfer as noted in the GD article.  All three women were invited solely because of their golfing abilities.  I did not mean to preclude someone who merely plays golf and is hence a golfer.

As far as the image problem golf continues to be viewed as an elitist sport with an exclusive not inclusive culture. There are certainly women who are highly successful in other fields who would be thrilled to join PV.  Breaking down barriers has nothing to do with appeasing others.  It should be done because it is the right thing to do whether we are talking race, religion, gender or whatever.

I’ve met Annika. I do not know the other two ladies.

But saying it is SOLELY on their golfing ability seems to dismiss them as decent people?  I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent talking Annika

Never said or inferred they weren't "decent" people.  But being a decent person doesn't get you into PV.  If you want to pick off on semantics so be it...
