Like many others here, I got to know Howard best during our time at Kingsley.

Howard was a genuinely nice person. He always remained about the fray. The kind of guy who, following a long weekend together, always made you think “I can do better”.

He always struck me as a person that anyone could call in a time of need and he’d find a way to help.  There wasn’t a selfish bone in his body as far as I could tell.

I was extremely sorry to learn of Howard’s passing this week.  I hope he’s found peace.

Quite simply one of the good guys.
Spent a few great trips with Howard over the years, hours driving together discussing all things under the sun.
A passionate guy, delightfully eloquent and a man who loved his wife almost as much as his golf ;)

We spent may hours discussing the immense values of a wife who 'gets it' when it comes to our shared passion for this great game, Meghan my heart goes out to you at tis tough time.

Very fond memories of a fine man..who I will miss tremendously

If anyone wants to reach out to his Wife, Megan, you can message her on Instagram @mgraboss. I have and I'm sure the support would only offer her additional comfort and peace.

I never met Howard in person, but I followed him on Instagram due to our many common friends, and his many interesting golf trips.

This thread is a wonderful tribute to him, and I hope his family sees it in due time. With many Jewish friends in my life,  Howard sounds like a wonderful "Mench":

mench
A German word which, in Yiddish, means "a good person". A mench is a particularly good person with the qualities one would hope for in a dear friend or trusted colleague; a gentleman.

There aren't a lot of posts on this Board that bring me to tears. . . but this one certainly has. I can still hear Howard giving me grief about the absence of non-purple golf shirts in my wardrobe. He was fun to be around on the course and after. It's people like Howard that make this group a special part of our lives. He will be missed.

I really hate to see these threads with just a name.  I know when I open click on it the news is likely to be bad.

My experiences with Howard were confined to the first two gatherings at Streamsong in 2013 and 2014.  I believe it was proposed to call them the Phosphate Featherie or was it Pheatherie.  He did a terrific job of organizing it.

Sorry to hear of this and also sorry I didn't know him better considering all the testimony here to what a fine man he was.

RIP.

I had many conversations with Howard about Sears as he was communications director there for many years. A good friend of mine was a stock analyst who visited Sears many times and once said that Sears, in their heyday,  made more money on their own credit card as they did with product sales. He liked that.  He was always jovial even though his job was  to announce store closings. That must have been  a tough ride. I note that his last Tweet was in early April.  He will be missed.

I never got the chance to meet him in person, but followed him on social media and read his posts here.  I felt shock and sadness when I opened this thread; he seemed like such a good person, and I am sorry for his family and those who did know him personally.

So sad to hear this.  I met Howard when we shared a cart at a GCA Beverly CC play date.  He was warm, funny, genuine, and passionate about golf, and the field upon which it was played.  May his memory be a blessing.
