Just saw this in Golf Course Architecture magazine. Looks good from the pics:

The project covered tees, fairways, bunkers, greens and the irrigation system, with Bergin aiming to make the layout more enjoyable for members of all abilities.
“It had been nearly 40 years since any major improvements had been completed and the golf course was showing signs of wear,” said Judd Duininck of contractor Duininck Golf, which handled construction.

Bill Bergin does great work, over and over and over, and the members at Dalton CC are very pleased.
A cool side note: Bill won the Georgia State Am at Dalton CC in 1981, forty years ago.  I believe that I am correct that at that time, he was the second youngest player, behind only Bobby Jones, to win that championship.  Jones was only 14 when he won, so it was (and is) a pretty high bar.  Or low bar; I'm not sure which.
If you're curious, Bill played HS golf with Bob Tway, was a AA at Auburn, and then played on Tour for several years before first teaching and then going into design work; he worked for Bob Cupp before going out on his own.  If you are fortunate enough to play any of his original designs or his renovations, I think you'll be impressed with just how good they are.
"Golf...is usually played with the outward appearance of great dignity.  It is, nevertheless, a game of considerable passion, either of the explosive type, or that which burns inwardly and sears the soul."      Bobby Jones

Interesting stuff. I've heard good things about his work.

I played in that '81 State Am at Dalton CC, as an 18 year old graduating HS senior.
Bill graduated Auburn in 1981 so he would've been 21 or 22.

Plenty won it younger than age 21/22-Lee Know won it twice by age 22
Robert T. Jones, Jr. - age 14 (1916)Colin Bowles - age 16 (2016)Charlie Yates - age 17 (1931)Harris English - age 17 (2007) and I'm sure there were more younger than 21
