Team Ohio

A. Jack Nicklaus
B. Denny Shute
C. Tom Weiskopf
D. Dean Martin

Think it would be a pretty good team.
chris

I was waiting for the lucky Ohioan who could bring Nicklaus and Martin together.
I have the article with Dean's 'typical day' in 1961, when he had long stays at the Sands. My goodness, even the sanitized/public version of his daily routine would make anyone green with envy!

Nice. In Illinois if Murray hadn't won at Pebble I would have chosen Jack Benny for the comedic element.

I'll see Bogey's team and raise with:

A. Kip Henley (my junior golf teacher from way back when and former BIG BREAK II Winner)

B. David Ingram (Philanthropist and ANGC Member, so we're well capitalized for the Calcutta)

C. Megan Fox (She's going to smoke it off of the red tees; born just up the road in Oak Ridge)

D. Me (I'm not missing this!)

John,
I think Al and Tom would get along well, they can talk guns.

My bad, thought it was just a Calcutta team.

C. LeBron James
D. Rob Dyrdek- professional skateboarder and host of Ridiculousness

Here's my team from Texas:

(A) Hogan - The only reason to play is to win.

(B) LBJ - The votes needed to pass the Civil Rights Act were secured on the golf course.

(C) Willie Nelson - Par is whatever you want it to be.

(D) Molly Ivans - 6 Ft. tall, flaming red hair - Minneapolis police named their pig after her.

(DD) Jayne Mansfield - A "real / spectacular" distraction  :-*

You spelled Turnesa wrong. Additionally, please provide first names...Willie was the only Turnesa brother that wasn’t a professional.

Of all people, I thought you’d check your work.
New for '24: Monifieth x2, Montrose x2, Panmure, Carnoustie x3, Scotscraig, Kingsbarns, Elie, Dumbarnie, Lundin, Belvedere, The Loop x2, Forest Dunes, Arcadia Bluffs x2, Kapalua Plantation, Windsong Farm, Minikahda...

From that part south of I-80.

Ok, I will swap in Bob Goalby for A and Doug Collins for C.

Ira

The problem with Doug Collins is that in a Calcutta you don't refuse second place money. Goalby is the best golfer ever from Illinois.
Goalby the best player ever from Illinois ? Not so fast- ever hear of a Chick Evans? His career as an amateur was second only to Bobby Jones. So my team would be:

 A Player Jay Haas
 B Player Chick Evans
 C Player Bill Murray
 D Player MJ

I had also mentioned Michael Jordan earlier. With his vanity handicap and penchant for bidding up his own team he is a very weak B player at best.

Missouri:
1. Judy Rankin  (Tough choice between Payne Stewart, Horton Smith & Judy Rankin.  I think Watson might actually be from Kansas.  Hale Irwin is from Colorado and only lived in Mo after turning pro.)
2. Yogi Berra
3. Bill Bradley
4. Cedric the Entertainer  (gotta have some fun out there)

Gamer on the court does not necessarily translate to gamer on the course. I’ve heard there isn’t a gambler in or around ChiTown that hasn’t found their way into the GOAT’s pocket.

Indiana

A) Fuzzy Zoeller
B) Pete Dye - Not born here, but I'd call him a naturalized Hoosier
C) Oscar Robertson - I’d want him on my team, whatever the competition
D) John Dillinger - To increase the intimidation factor.
...to admit my mistakes most frankly, or to say simply what I believe to be necessary for the defense of what I have written, without introducing the explanation of any new matter so as to avoid engaging myself in endless discussion from one topic to another.

I don’t think you can overlook Bobby Knight who has the ability to scare people into winning and can deal with the press after the event is over.

Bobby Knight isn't bad but he ain't nothing as intimidating as William Tecumseh Sherman. Only problem is that if you draft him he will not play.

Georgia

1.Captain- Larry Nelson-who would show the blind PGA of America that a Viet Nam veteran with three majors, a Top record as a RC participant, and an overall class guy could easily dispatch 49 other teams far more easily than our recent crop of inept softy Captains and players, who haven't been able to dispatch one opponent off home soil.

2. Bobby Jones-plays with hickories but provides the corn whiskey

3.Laura (Mays) Coble-High School classmate and GA Hall of famer

4.Jeff Knox-Fellow Jr. golf fellow competitor in Augusta area  and Masters marker who regularly holds his own with the pros at 57

Barney, I lost sleep last night thinking about your pick of Davy Crockett.  He would have owned the Ohio squad as he kilt him a bear when he was only three.

Also, how could I have missed Isaac Hayes - that bad Mother can really let out the shaft.

As an act of mercy I passed on Coach Pat Summitt.  Simply too much intimidation - game over.

Mass:

A-Pat Bradley seems to be the clear favorite, a HOF-er with 6 major wins.  Plenty of other candidates...Paul Azinger was born in MA, but moved to FL before high school....Allen Doyle (born in RI, raised in Norwood, MA), Peter Uihlein, Meg Mallon.  Bob Toski or Jane Frost in the teacher category.  Donald Ross spent the better part of 15 years in Mass. so he's maybe our best ex-pat.

B-Francis Ouimet, the second best B player available after Bobby Jones
C-JFK, maybe a 6-7 cap, better after a couple handfuls of Advil and some swing oil
D-John Updike... a pesky 15, walking and carrying his own bag of course
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

WT Sherman. Love him just for saying, re: Grant: "He stuck with me when I was crazy, and I stuck with him when he was drunk". He'd handle the pressure just fine; but still, Jeff's Georgia team would be hard to beat.
