Which single shot are you most looking forward to?
« on: March 30, 2020, 08:00:02 AM »
Apart from the very first one.

In my dreams, at the moment, the pitch to the raised 7th green at Harlech, across and into the prevailing wind, looms very large.

Which single shot has the current enforced absence from the game (certainly here in the UK) made you pine for most?

The next putt on a real golf course with a real hole-with the pin out.

The last putt I hit anywhere was a 20 footer to win(or lose) a match on February 24

My first time back at Elie, the first tee shot, over that hill.  That's when golf starts to be an adventure again.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Right now, the next one :(

I waited the first half of my life to play the second shot on #8 at Pebble Beach, and I did it three weeks before my 40th birthday.

It did not disappoint.

Hitting the tee shot on the par-4 14th at WBYC now that all of the trees have been cleared out on the inside of the dogleg and you could now actually hit a driver toward the green without hitting a 100-yard slice.

I've just discovered my own hypocrisy.
After years of complaining about banal Par 5s and gentle opening holes, I realized I most want to play the 1st hole at Vic East -- a wide open short par 5 dog leg right that, even if you hit it just 230 yards off the tee leaves only 200 yards in, to a green that completely welcomes run ups and that helpfully tilts from back to front.
I should be able to walk off with no worse than bogey.

I love the tee shot on the fourth hole at Ballyhack. If I hit a decent drive I can get to the bottom of the hill and have about 160 yards in. If not I stay up top and have 190-200 yards in.

Not quite on topic, but shows how anticipation can be over rated....

Happened to play Lookout Mountain with Rees Jones on a beautiful day, and it was his first round in a year, due to shoulder surgery.  He was very happy to be playing golf again, almost whistling as he walked down the fw.  Hit a nice drive, approach to the front of the green, missed the putt, but then missed the tap in for bogey.

His first reaction?  "Man I HATE this game!"

Reality can make it all change so quickly, LOL. :D

+1. Unfortunately fear our trip in July might not happen.

Second choice would be tee shot on #4 at Mid Pines.

Stay safe everyone.

I’m most looking forward to the tee shot on #11 at the newly renovated Beverly CC.  Not particularly looking forward to the tee shot on #1, as they put in a “topped shot” bunker about 50 yards in front of the tee box so you stand on the tee and start by looking at a cart path and a nuisance bunker instead of looking toward the green perched atop the big ridge.

I was/ am scheduled to play in a series of hickory four ball matches at Lawsonia and Sand Valley- Mammoth Dunes in late May.  At Lawsonia, it's probably not high on most people's lists, but my favorite shot on the golf course is the into the wind approach shot on 17.

It's a no bail out shot and the wind always seems to be strongest right there, but for some reason I always tend to pull that one off and don't have any scar tissue yet in my memorybank.

The tee shot on #7 on Cabot Cliffs.  The carry is not that long but I must have pooched it 80% of the time, if not more.

Dreamt last night of a country driving range I've only been to once.  I was trying to bang ratty old mix-n-match range balls off an old Ford Econoline van sitting at 175 yards.  Apparently I'm looking forward to that.  It is a very satisfying sound when you ping it.
