Nice to read such a full accounting of the new layout. Some friends and I were there in the '90s with the old track and the original hotel. The hotel had no rooms, so we stayed in the back in caravans, lined up and a stone's throw from the first hole. The floors were topologically very interesting, and the sinks all had signs in caps stating "NON-POTABLE WATER." We were provied as many liter bottle as we needed. The food was good and the course was mostly ours. It was clear where the landowner adjacent had pulled his property from the course, resulting in an unusual 90 degree dogleg and a river. But there were many places where you could walk out to the course and play 2, or 3, or 6 holes as you liked. The place was clearly running very lean, as a real effort is needed to get there! One of the funniest experiences I have had buying local golf grot occurred in the shop. There was no pro, and a wind-blown matronly Scottish Mrs. was tending the merchandise. When I went to look at a sweater, in the plastic bag, she snatched it back as I was taking it out to try on! A very memorable place with interesting greens and a very old feel. I look forward to seeing it again in its new form.
