Congratulations to King Collins

Looks like an exciting opportunity.  The best of luck.  If this course is anything like Sweetens Cove, it will be nothing short of amazing.

Wow there are a lot of people copying Don Placek's graphics details these days!

Or maybe it's Gil Hanse's graphics, I'm not that into type faces so I can't tell for certain.  The compass face thingy looks very familiar.

7400 yards.  ???   Well, at least it’s a par 71.

Utah has a mean altitude of 6,100 ft above sea level - third highest in the country. I suspect the actual playing yardage will be significantly less, possibly as much as 10%.

Morgan is just over 5000 feet, so combined with the thin dry air, that seems reasonable.

And they do have a ton of available area to work with, it won't be a tight fit in the slightest.

I'm very much looking forward to this project!!

Hmm. Go to Rob’s website I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at least a couple other plans he’s drawn in this style and they must be about 4 years old - maybe older.

I’m also quite surprised Doak brought something negative to a positive discussion about a competing design firm.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Hmm.  I've been looking at that stuff from Don and from Gil for 20 years now.  I don't have any of it handy to post, but I bet if you look up Gil's Rio presentation drawing (different font) you'll see more than a passing resemblance.  Or better still, just ask Rob what inspired his title block and drawing style.

But next you'll tell me it doesn't matter, and it doesn't, so whatever.  None of it matters until they get it built.  I wish Zac would go win three events so he could fund it himself.

Nothing I said was negative, except in your mind.  I was just trying to give credit where credit is due for the lovely style.  And I certainly didn't take any for myself.

Also I'm confused.  I thought Zac was designing the course and King Collins were the builders?  Either way, I've yet to compete with either of them for a job, as far as I know.  I suppose maybe Gil has.

Crack open The Spirit of Saint Andrews - on the inside cover is a cracking rendition of Rob’s presentation.  ;)

Well, I guess golf course rendering graphics are just like golf course design then ... it all goes back to St. Andrews, long before any of us were born!  :D

Well since it seems TD is being jumped here for some legit questions, let me ask one.First, got no problem with any young architects speculating and promoting to get a project.  And got no problem with King Collins.  Also have great respect for anyone who can get to the PGA tour.  And even more if they have a passion for architecture.

So question is:  if TD came out tomorrow to say he was going to play in next years US Open with a young PGA tour caddy at his side but he had not qualified or gotten a sponsor for his tour career would it be hyped like this?

Wish them all the best but have gone thru this scenario at least 15 times in the past 35 years.  Every once in a while they work.  Good luck.

Honestly if it’s typed it’s hyped so there’s no changing that however you see it. This is the way it is, especially online! Tom knows - he writes - a lot(!) compared to most other architects today. I hope he continues to. We all benefit.

Hope springs eternal and these guys have some wind behind their sails. Good for them and good for everyone reading these posts.

They should do another tournament this winter.

If you don't think this is going to get built check out how this auction to raise funds for the project is going. This is the real deal.

Hey dude, I got no beef with those guys...I just asked a question.  As for jealousy , explain.  I got over 50 on the ground why would I be jealous of the KC guys...they are just trying to sell projects... as TD alluded, all that pays n this business is finished courses.

So just learn to speak for yourself when you do your trolling ...take care dude...

I like when old dudes misuse millennial terms. Cracks me up.

Doak has world top 25 clubs but can’t help doing interviews ripping Kidd, taking credit for C&Cs restoration of #2 and posting here accusing KingCollins of plagiarism (helluva 48 hours).

Milineal should have 2 "l" an 2 "n"...look I go on this site to mess with slapdicks  . I have no battles just entertainment.  But have a new rule, I don't deal with slapdicks or politics more than 5 minutes per day.  I have not seen TD accuse anyone of plagerism.  All I asked was a question and you can answer it with a yes or no.  Discussing promotional hype is not raining on a parade...

Tom ~ Mind sharing which job Gil has competed with them on?

I have not been to Sweetens but I have heard its amazing. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure its the only 9 hole course on any ranking list??? Amazing accomplishment when you think about it. I have yet to find someone who has been there and doesn't rave about it. So the unpopular question I have been asking for some time, Why hasn't Kings-Collins followed up with any big projects? Or have they and I am missing something?????

There simply aren’t that many new projects and the current old guard is proving difficult to unseat.
