What a wonderful weekend.
Great courses and great playing partners.

Huge thanks to Michael for organizing the Dixie Cup and also for opening up his beach house over the weekend.

Thanks to all who participated in the 2018 Dixie Cup! I think it is safe to say that a great time was had by all.

I'm pleased to report that the Grey Team was successful in conjuring a major comeback on Sunday and overtaking the Blue to team to capture the 2018 Dixie Cup Championship!

The Blue Team outscored the Grey by 10 Stableford points on Friday at True Blue and another one point on Saturday at Caledonia to take an 11 point lead into Sunday's final round at Caledonia. The Grey Team played their best golf by far on Sunday and outscored the Blue by 25 points to finish the competition with a 14 point victory!

While we did keep score, the main winner was FELLOWSHIP! New friends were made... old friends were reacquainted. This event was an amazing testament to power of the GCA.com community.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our next gathering.

Brian Drennon - Brice Willhite
Craig Disher - Morgan Clawsen - Jerry Kluger
Ken Prince - Steve Wilson
Jason Thompson - Michael Whitaker - Justin Hill
Jason Topp - Eric Smith

The strategic decision to transition from having a playing Captain to just a Captain really paid off for the Greys.

I had a blast - thanks to Mike and to all of the guys and gals who made the trip. South Carolina in winter is always special as are True Blue and Caledonia.

Thank you very much to Michael Whitaker for putting on another great Dixie Cup.  The fact that folks came from as far as Seattle, Minnesota, and Scotland shows just what a top notch event Whitaker runs.  Spending three days playing these two Strantz courses was so much fun.  I can't wait for Fall 2019, especially due to the course expected to host the next Dixie Cup.

PS - Blue lost by 25 on Sunday, for a final loss of 14 points.  It was a drubbing, but not quite as severe as stated above.

Is True Blue a museum piece? It reminds me of my visit to the ABBA museum a few years ago.

Thanks to Mike and to all those who attended.  Considering the late date at which this was arranged to maintain the continuous tradition of the Dixie Cup this was a triumph and just not for the Grey.  BTW, why are we using a British spelling? :D

I couldn’t be there, but I was happy to see a new friend to me and GCA, Justin Hill had made the trip. Bogey and I enjoyed a day with Justin at Sweetens Cove, and he couldn’t have been a nicer young man. It was a chance meeting at Sweetens, and he told me he’d driven over 2 hours just to play golf on his day off! That’s an equal testament to his desire to play good golf and the quality of Sweetens Cove (and his wifes’ graciousness!).

Welcome, Justin.

Joe Hancock, Thanks for the introduction and kind words.  I learned a lot listening to you and Bogey that day at Sweetens.  Hope we can do it again another time when you're passing through.  If you'll remember, you told me to go to the Dixie Cup.  I did.  I hope you know that means I value your opinion.  (now that I've buttered you up I hope we can get in a big argument on here about whether or not the Redan at _____ is better than the Redan at _____! I think that's what this site is for  ;D ).

Michael Whitaker,  Thank you for hosting and putting on a great event.  Besides being stuck outside on a near freezing South Carolina midnight waiting on a room key that worked (with Eric Smith who only seemed to want to talk about Tom Doak?) it was perfect.

I wasn't successful trying to post pictures in the thread but hopefully the link below will work...

Get a stronger, less palmy grip, and then work on that trail knee action, eh?  :)  Lack of turn there makes it easier for your right elbow to get too far around your body.
