Excellent, I was late arriving to Brora after a windswept 18 at Nairn so I didn’t make it to the Golspie get together. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone tomorrow.

After treading water and maintaining the four point deficit, the American squad rallied in the afternoon and won the first three matches to climb do with them one point of a tie against the rest of the world team. And then like the light brigade a balaclava and pick up a division of Gettysburg the tide receded and the rest of the world team led by the deceptively mild-mannered James Boon  drove the Gallant and determine the USA team back down the slopes as they reclaim the final three matches and maintain a four point lead at the end of the day 14 to 10.

All that is left report for now is the lineup of tomorrow singles matches
MATCH 1 0830 Mayhugh vs Wiggett
Match 2. Gay e vs Pearce
Match 3 Baylee vs Dodd
Match 4 Forsythe vs Tepper
Match 5 Kluger vs Paul Graham
Match 6 Shackelford cs M. Graham
Match 7 peyronnin vs Carlton
Match 8 Herrick vs Duran
Match 9 Malone vs McIntosh
Match 10 Boon vs Shaida
Match 11 wilson vs Galbraith
Match 12 Whitaker vs Izatt

A time for the first match is given and subsequent matches could begin at shorter intervals if the fairway is clear and both players are on hand.

Thanks to everyone for their  participation and camaraderie.

In case anyone is interested, ROW shellacked the US. I didn't stay for the final blood letting, so don't know the final tally.

No one knows the exact score as once we had polled the matches and reached 20 and a half points for ROW out of a possible 36 it was deemed no more counting was necessary without being excessive.

Congratulations to them I say through gritted teeth (hat tip to Ian Galbraith who beat me like a rented mule).

I would like to echo Stan's comment and thank Steve for organising an excellent event. It is always good to meet other GCAers and the group that made it up to the Highlands were of the very best order. Excellent courses and every sort of weather except rain/snow/hail.

I would also like to put on record my thanks to both clubs for allowing us to play their courses on a bank holiday weekend. I am sure that all those who were playing them for the first time would agree that it is a shame so many make the trip up to Ross-shire and Sutherland but miss out on playing the many courses in the area which offer a true insight into the 'Scottish golf scene'.

Finally, a thanks to Mr Boon who took on the job of captaincy of the ROW. A thankless task which he carried out with admirable grace.

Many thanks Steve for organizing a great event and bringing us all to Golspie with the blooming gorse.  We were all winners.

Sadly these two holes had their way with me, but they were pretty to look at and beyond, and were good architecture too.

A fine breezy day at Golspie. This is fast becoming one of my favourite golf holes. Well done, boys, now let’s see the dirty pictures.

Thank you to all the other BUDA participants for the warm welcome extended to me as a BUDA first-timer. And thanks to Steve; you did a fine job putting it together.
I wandered up to Reay for a late afternoon round and had the course to myself in delightful shirtsleeve weather.

Steve,

You were awesome. Where do you buy your clothes? I need to give my wife some Christmas ideas if she is still there when I get home.

Gentlemen,

Sounds like a fine time was had by all. And Golspieseems an absolute delight.

As to Steve Wilson's Beau Brummell attire I'll warrant that he wore a pair of braces (or galluses in the vernacular) to hold up his fancy breeks!

I suspect a lot of fun was had!

Many thanks to Steve for organising this year's event. It was great to meet up with familiar faces and meet some new ones too. Strip away Brora's idiosyncrasies such as the grazing sheep and fences guarding greens and you're left with a really terrific course. Golspie was hands down the most fun new course I've played in some time.

Considering we were golfing on the same latitude as Latvia and Estonia we were super fortunate with the weather even if the east wind did make it chilly at times (thanks again Ward for the loan of the wind-breaker).

Congratulations also to our victorious captain James who was Azinger to Steve's Faldo.

A big thank you too Steve for organizing a great event. The only thing he could have done to make it better would be calm weather and sunshine through out plus having Liverpool win their match in Kiev on Saturday. But, I understand those things are above his pay scale.

Even Steve couldn't conjure up a half decent goalkeeper. Jurgen better get his checkbook out this summer. Sigh, there's always next season...

I say dump the goalie altogether and put on an extra attacker. A 4-4-3 formation should produce enough goals per match to win ;D

Now this thread has devolved into a discussion of football and my inadequacies in finding a goalie for Liverpool, I’d like to bring it back to the Buddha for just a bit. First of all I want to thank everyone who attended. The Golspie-Brora Combination was not the easiest trip to make.  Nevertheless, I think it was worth it.

Secondly, I want to thank all of you for the kind words for me for organizing this event. Your thanks of been expressed here at the BUDA as well as on this board.  Organizing this but it was the best way I had to return The opportunities in the world of golf I’ve come to me through the members of GolfClubAtlas.

It was good to have so many familiar hands on board and equally good to have been blessed by the attendance of some rookies.

I may try to stimulate some discussions of particular holes at Golspie later on. But for now thank you for your attendance and your kind words.
