In Lisbon last year, I had the opportunity to buy a Rolex-branded watch for $10. It looked a lot like a Rolex, but you know... it wasn't.


I have two Titleist golf balls on my desk at the moment, with a fat-lined logo and DT TruSoft stamped on the side. I've been using them to roll out the knots in my upper back for the last couple days. They're authentic Titleist balls that double as a TopFlite knockoff.


At Costco, I can buy what I've heard for 15 years from multiple sources is Grey Goose vodka for $18 a handle, but the label says "Kirkland." It doesn't look like a Grey Goose bottle. It just tastes and performs like Grey Goose.

Not sure.  But you know me John, a cheap, card and pencil type.  So maybe after 20 or 30 cases of Kirkland's finest, my brain chemistry will be such that I can begin to understand your many pithy comments.  Well actually not just yours.  I am still trying to get my arms around the one where Big is everything bad that ails golf (and most everything else).  Maybe Seinfeld could make something out of it, or I just need several 8 oz glasses of the good stuff to appreciate the wisdom.


I don't find the single malt on costco.com.   Perhaps it is just available in the store, which, incidentally, the one I go to is packed much of the time.  Interesting C-19 protocols there: face masks required, but bedlam and long lines otherwise.  I suspect that their sales volume is up 50%+.

Coupons, discount certs, % off are promotions as old as marketing itself. Anything put out for XYZ entity is sanctioned by that entity as long as they aren't counterfeit. One in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

Besides the fact they didn’t shut down for a single day during this crisis, they charged us half dues for our inconvenience.

As far as buying a golf shirt to sooth your soul. That story stopped selling itself years ago.

If golf pros would stock gloves for left handed golfers, you might have a point. I haven't been able to buy a glove at my club for some time now. Pro shop doesn't stock lefthanded clubs either.

You can get quality left/right handed gloves at
 Big 5 Sporting Goods. I think they are a national chain. I am a rt handed golfer and needed one for my right hand because of a cut.

The Mrs. made a trip to a Costco a bit farther than our local one 2 weeks ago - the one farther away sells liquor where our local one does not (NJ Liquor Laws are archaic and date back to just after Prohibition).  Mrs. K bought me a bottle of Kirkland 10 year old Tawny Port on a whim as I haven't enjoyed port in a bit.


The Kirkland tawny port is very good and more than reasonably priced.  I'd have her get me another bottle if she can find it on her next visit - it usually doesn't stay on the shelves very long.

Bought a 16oz jar of “bread & basket” super chunky peanut butter at Shop Rite in Riverhead, NY.
It was easily as good or better than 4x more expensive name brands.  I’m gonna buy a case.
