When I started listening to KTEE-FM from Bandon while playing golf here in Pennsylvania.   I play it quietly and NEVER bother anybody, but I think it's pretty cool for the emotional kick out of hearing really good music from one of my favorite places.

And, yes, I have a rangefinder.   It only serves to tell me I don't hit it as far at 57 as when I was 27 :)

Once-upon-a-time the driver, that is a small wooden headed driver with a steel shaft, was the most difficult club in the bag for most folks to hit successfully. And this was why loads of folks used to tee off with a 2-wood, 3-wood etc.
Now a 460cc titanium/composite head on the end of a graphite shaft is probably the easiest club to hit, certainly the easiest to make contact with. Although some still do, not many tee off these days with anything other than a jumbo driver.
Sell out.

Buying Schmidt's Lite and sneaking it onto Karakung instead of the more expensive Schmidt's and playing Cobb's Creek?

Every time I think about playing Trump LA again next time I am down there. Maybe I will play it after he is impeached and tried for treason.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Anytime I have to ride in a golf cart.

I don't think anyone at the 5th Major will feel like a sellout riding a cart on the White. That's a beast to walk with the soft sand paths (that are especially circuitous on the par 3s)

I think it was the acquisition of a lob wedge. I remember hitting a pitch shot over a bunker, the sort of shot that would have given me conniptions in the past, and it being so easy, I thought to myself 'I should not be able to hit that shot -- I am not a good enough golfer'. I still think there ought to be a maximum loft on clubs specified in the rules of golf... though how you would enforce it God alone knows.

I don't think loft limits would have much effect. I hit all the same shots with a SW or PW laid open I can hit with my LW, other than maybe one of those shots with the LW laid fully open where you take a full swing and hit it so high it only travels 15 yards, but I think those of us not named Phil are probably better off not hitting those anyway :)

When I was young, I often claimed that I played my best hungover; now I blame a bad round on being hungover.

First sell out - Last year I dropped the blades from my bag.  High school, college, post grad amateur play.

Now, every single time I mishit a ball, it seems allergic to both side spin and gravity.  Instead of missing greens, I'm looking at long putts, but putts nonetheless.  I shake my head, sigh and my playing partners don't quiet understand... I call them technology balls.

Off the Rack -- though I did have him go through a fitting first.

First time was 1990 when I upgraded from the S 300 to the TM Flex Twist. Remember those shafts?

Yes...and besides being hungover, I also tend to blame a sore back, the weather, my playing companions (man, are they slow!), the architecture, the club-house coffee, the golf ball (is this a defective ball?), the lie angle of my irons and its relationship to the turf conditions...etc.
In short, my main sell-out is that I've begun to blame everything for my poor scores except my own lack of talent!
Of course, I now have a lob wedge in my bag so maybe I'll score better...

The first year I had a lob wedge I liked it so much that I used it for 67% of my shots.   ;)

My new putter: It has wings, looks like a branding iron and doesn't wave about in the wind like my old putter. It has a thing to make sure your head is over the ball and it all works much better than the old one. It's all wrong but...

Ian - yes, thanks for the laugh. I particularly liked "if you're lucky you'll have a history of bad shots to draw upon".  :D  Indeed, that's the real key to it. You can't fake it...

I bought the yearly cart pass at the resort where I live. Actually, my wife bought it. She said I can still walk while the cart carries my clubs. I didn't want a pull/punch cart. It makes me feel guilty every time I play.
