There has been quite a bit of action at Town & Country Club in St. Paul over the last six months.

Under the watchful eye of Jeff Mingay and our superintendent Bill Larson, a number of meaningful projects have been completed.

This past winter, the club removed a substantial number of trees in conjunction with Mr. Mingay's master plan for the course. Those removals focused on continued ash tree removals, evergreens, and trees in various states of decline.

One of the terrific features of Town & Country is the internal movement of its property. As stated above in this thread, the property plays in an out of an old ravine that bisects course. Tree removal around the old ravine has exposed some terrific features as evidenced by the following photo from the 4th tee. The sharp hillside beyond the spring was previously covered by trees:

As many of you that have played the course previously have noted, the 3rd hole featured an evergreen "screen" behind the greensite. The putting surface has been completely restored to the original green pad and with the removal of the background trees has resulted in a much improved par-3:

This past Spring, before the golf course reopened for the season, Mr. Mingay returned to T&C and completed work to the 1st tee and 18th green area. Specifically, arborvitae were removed from the area, the area behind the green was reshaped, the 18th green was expanded back to the left and right, the 1st tee boxes were shifted, and a small putting green was added and connected to the back tee on #1.

Just this month, work was completed to the first and ninth greens. Mounding was removed from behind both greens, the putting surfaces were expanded, and the green surrounds were reshaped:
