Changes to the Postage Stamp
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:32:30 AM »
This morning, the GC reported that the green had recently been expanded.  Does anyone have the details of the work performed, the rationale as to why, and the impact for daily play and the Open this week?

I have not yet had the opportunity to play Troon, and at best have played a few knock offs of the hole.  For those who have, can you describe the green's interior features as they serve to protect par from a mere 120 yards?

Thanks in advance!

Dan,

I am more of a Troon fan than most here. Will be very interested to hear the answer to your question.

Someone posted an interview with Martin Ebert where he describes what they did and in essence they have just mown the grass shorter at the front to extend the green, I don't think they have changed any contours (at least not that I could see ).

More interesting is the fact that Sky Sports has installed a wire cam from the tee to the green of the 8th.  What are the odds that Bubba will hit the camera with his 64 degree lob wedge?
