Eats in the Land of Enchantment.
« on: September 10, 2003, 04:42:34 PM »
Friday evening:
I currently have reservations for 10 people at 8:30pm at "The Shed".  (yes they do serve dinner)  Their entrees range from $10-$16.  Who's in?

So far:
Baxter Spann
Mike Nuzzo
Craig Edgmand
Mike Whitaker
Doug Wright
Brad Swanson
George Pazin
Ran Morrissett
Clayman
JC
Lou Duran
John V
McBride
Lang
Lang
Weiss
Hermsmeyer
Hinez
Nordstrom

Saturday evening:
I'm currently working on a group room at the "Pink Adobe".  http://www.thepinkadobe.com/  They have a room called "the Apartment" (for 8:30pm) that holds up to 40.  We will hopefully get a few Black Mesa folks to the party.  The entrees range from $15-$25.  There is a fee associated with reserving the room.  I'll see if they'll barter for a little golf, but the reg. fee is $300.  They will put a cash bar upstairs for us, if we choose.  They can do a few other things for us as well.

Baxter's presentation will be at Black Mesa following the second round at the golf course.

Cheers

Nuz

I'm not part of your group but lived in NM for 14 years. So if anyone wants a recommendation, go for the Pink Adobe. In ABQ, try Los Cuatos on Lomas near San Mateo- the best homemade NM fare in ABQ. Go for the Carne Adavada, pork Roast cubed and marinated in red chili sauce. The best meal in town. I'd also recommend El Pinto in Benalillo about 1/2 hour north of the city.

Also in Santa Fe, eat lunch at Tomasitas (the old RR station). There used to be a little place called Josies about a block off the plaza which was great. If you want to have a chance of gawking at celebreties who live in the area, La Casa Sena used to be the the place. It had a great bar, and was practically next door to the Shed.

Have a great time in the Zia State.

No Shed Friday, get there too late.

Sat - Pink Adobe sounds great.

Thanks again for doing this, Miguel! ;D

Mike,

Very good choices. As I recall The Shed is a bit divey which is good for a first night's gathering of weary travelers. Brad Swanson and I will be there.

The Pink Adobe is one of the best places in Santa Fe IMO, and that's saying a lot because there are a number of excellent eateries there. We have their cookbook on the shelf at home. Count Brad and me in for that too. Here's a link to The Pink Adobe's website.

Both sound great to me, but I'll have to check on Friday to make sure we're done playing in time.

This may come as a shock, but I'm always up for some good eats... I'm travelling with Adam and George but I assume they want to be feedin at the same trough as the rest of the herd.

Mike,

Count me in for both.  I promise to watch my manners and be on my best behavior.  I only wish that Dr. Moriarty, Shivas, JakaB, Sir Huntley, the east coast Lefties, the Emperor, gyrogolf, and all our other good GCA friends were joining us.  Perhaps next time.

Count me in for both - the later reservation for Friday works great.  Both restaurants were highly recommended by CA friends who go to Santa Fe every year.  Good stuff!

MIke,

Count the Lang's in for both eats..  at the Pink Adobe why don't we just take over the bar after dinner versus springing $ for a room?

As for the separate room at the Pink Adobe...
Pretty tough to seat 25+ on a saturday night.
We'll be working on the $$.
The cash bar upstairs is to keep the booze off of the food bill.  We can then take over the downstairs bar after dinner.
(Don't forget to buy the other team extra drinks)

I didn't anticipate this many for Friday night, so there might be another reservation/room at the Shed.

This is great!

Cheers

I am missing you guys by just one week.  My wife and I are making our annual trip to New Mexico for the Feast Of San Geronimo at Taos Pueblo during the week of Sept 27 - Oct 4.

Enjoy the Shed and the Pink Adobe.  You definitely cannot go wrong with those choices.

If there are any stragglers before or after the festivities I would suggest the Old Mexico Grill.  It is more of a local hangout in a strip mall on Cerillos Road - not fancy at all, but great food - ask anybody, they can tell you where it is.

The bar in the Bullring, next to the Pink Adobe, can be "fun and interesting" in the wee hours...

Have a great time and wish I could make the trip with you guys.

Ron Kern

PS  If anybody has an interest in photography,  there is an excellent exhibition at the Georgia O'Keefe Museum located right off the plaza in Santa Fe - Photographs by Alfred Stieglitz: A Gift from The Georgia O'Keeffe Foundation.

Mike - Pink Abode sounds great for Sat.  I may be arriving too late for the Friday dinner so best to count me out for that.  Count Rick Holland in for the Sat dinner but not the Friday dinner.

On that note, Rick called me and said he has family committments Friday evening and won't be able to fly to Querque until Sat morning - he'll miss the morning round.  Did Morrisette contact you on this?

Pshaw.  Sleep is highly over-rated.  Mr. Fredrickson and I arrive at 9:55pm into Albuquerque airport, which as I figure things means we'll roll into the Radisson Santa Fe at about midnight.  I fully expect some of you to meet us at the bar there - from what I can tell they have one and it's called Las Mananitas.

 ;D

TH

ps - I fully expect you wimps to be in bed WAY before us.  So give me the earliest tee-time, will ya?  Just add that to the excuse pile...  ;)

Brad:

Sounds great to me.  Look for a short fat tired-looking guy along with a skinny Finn.  That'll be me and Kevin.   ;D

And shivas, I hear ya man.  You will be sorely missed.  I'm undefeated with you as partner, we'll see how I do without ya.
