I did get to play Preston Trail last year.  Pretty special place, apparently Mickey Mantle used to tee it up naked after a few drinks.

Hats off to the Proctor/Axland team for Delaware Springs (#4) in the real golf category of affordable golf.

If a club prefers not to be rated, but is on this list, is that right?  Isn't there any privacy left in this world?

It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

How many of the private clubs would prefer this.  I'm guessing quite a few (the top two omitted).

One would think that Texas would have better courses based on the size of the state.

I first became familiar with this list from Jeff Brauer, who not only has courses listed but is also a panelist.  They do an amazing job.  Kudos to the DMN.
