Andrew,  I witnessed the longest tee shot I've ever seen on 18 today- it was 100 yards past the sentinel oak tree!  It was slightly downwind and Whit blew it over the trees on the right side- we figured it to be about 350- 360 or so. He did the same on # 2-   340 yard tee ball left a  210 yd 6 iron. He's a strong partner these days!

Jack --

We both know that when Whit is good, he can be very good.  But we both also know that when he is bad, he can be very bad.

Case in point:  Whit has hit a tee shot on 15 that hooked left, over the trees dividing 15 from 11, over 11 fairway, over the western property fence, and onto the train tracks OB.

Wait until the real players come out for the Western Am later this month.  2, 7 and 18 should all be reachable, but I'm very curious to see how they play 11...

Cheers, Andrew

What, are you guys all too drunk to post?

That's it, isn't it -- the Judge arranged for trays of drinks at every 2nd tee, and you're now all too drunk to post.

Hope a great day was had by all. Hope to hear some stories

Peter,

I'm sure some of the crew are imbibing this evening, but the big shindig is tomorrow. It seems you are as excited as the rest of us!

What?

Thanks Matthew, but now I'm embarrassed.  :-[

I thought it was on the 8th, and then I thought the 8th was today.

Yeah, I am looking forward to the stories...

Peter,

No shame. I must admit, your post had me double checking the calendar!

Bumping old thread.   Was just at Beverly, and the continued tree removal is fantastic.  The sightlines and vistas are spectacular in every direction.

They are now bringing the greens out to the edges and flanges of the beautiful Ross green complexes, which will both be pleasing to the eye, as well as opening up pin positions.  Kudos to you guys!

We will have an epic GCA day next year after the final stage of the renovation is done. Tree removal, bunker rebuilding/relocation, combined with regrassing the putting surfaces will really complement the extensive tree removal.

Worth the trip.
