Actually I heard a great story about Rumsfeld showing up to play at a very exclusive club north of LA in some sort of fancy track suit.  He was sent off with the admonition, "Sorry sir, that's not appropriate golf attire here at the _________ Club."

Bill,

Rumsfeld tended to be a pretty formal guy, hence I have my doubts about the veracity of the story.

What club and in what year did this alleged incident take place, and, who was his host.

After a check of all the known lists of Top 100 and Top 200 courses it appears that there aren't any unknown knowns of 'top' quality. If there's a list that's unknown to me but known to you, and it contains any 'modern' unknown knowns, please let me know.

Thanks  :)

P.S. Unlike most threads here that grow in the number of posts, this one seems to be shrinking.

I noticed that, and see that one of your OT responses has been removed. Only one more to go for you.  ::)

Jim,

Seriously...? You start a thread with a cute title like that and you're 'surprised' it went off topic?

My 4yr wouldn't fall for that...

Now, I have to return to some 'light' chipping.

It's called substantiation regarding third party hearsay.

My source is a member in good standing.

Was he a member in good standing when the alleged incident occured or was he leaning to the left after being overserved ?

At least tell us the year.

All threads tend to deviate, but yes I am a bit 'surprised' that there were only a few on-topic responses. "UNK" is, and has always been, one of my favorite architects of pre WW11 courses. 'Cute' title or not, the quest for the modern equivalent was a legitimate question.

Technically it's a forum, although you might be confused given the fact most threads feature the same cast of characters.

I still can't work out how Pat Mucci posts so much and keeps his golf game in such good shape.. Like Kim Kardashian's Twitter feed, I suspect Pat may have outsourced the operation.. in his case to a FoxNews.com intern.

The most prolific of the ODG's.

My golf game is in dire need of help in the "iron" department.
If my irons don't improve, tennis and bowling may be on the horizon

Like Kim Kardashian's Twitter feed, I suspect Pat may have outsourced the operation.. in his case to a FoxNews.com intern.

I do all my own work, on and off the golf course.

I also read four newspapers a day and watch MSNBC, CNN, FOX and CNBC.

I believe it's a combination of multi-tasking and talent  ;D

Greg,

I could have sworn that Bill used the term "NORTH of L.A." as his geographic point of reference.

Please tell us how you can equate the area NORTH of L.A. as being confined to Southern California ?

You have heard of "The" Cal Club haven't you ?

Plus, it's not like I spend every waking hour deciphering Bill's posts.

We anxiously await your response as to how you define and limit the geographic area "NORTH of L.A." as "Southern California"

Prior to answering, you should know that you've been annointed with "moron" status.

If he was referring to somewhere in Northern California, then he would have said as such....north of LA means Southern California, to those of us in Southern California.....

If he was referring to somewhere in Northern California, then he would had said as such....

So now you're a mentalist and know what Bill meant as opposed to what he typed.

Only a moron would claim that the area NORTH of L.A. Is limited to Southern California.

Tell us, what's the line of demarcation for "Southern California", Ventura, Carpenteria, Solvang, Bakersfield, Fresno, Palo Alto,

north of LA means Southern California, to those of us in Southern California

That's interesting, my girlfriend, born and raised in Carpenteria didn't think that NORTH of L.A. meant Southern California

Do you argue just to argue?  Line of demarcation?  Give me a break

No, I just like to point out lapses in reading comprehension, especially those of a moronic nature

Line of demarcation?

YOU were the one who claimed that everything NORTH of L.A. was "Southern California", so I was just curious as to where Southern California ends and Northern Calfornia begins.  Is it a mile south of the Oregon border ?

Give me a break

Why ?

I saw an interesting article yesterday that had colored maps showing where the borders between baseball team allegiances.  For example, people in Hartford CT are Yankee fans in the majority while just north are Red Sox fans.  The dividing line between them is called the "Munson-Nixon" line, for Thurman Munson and Trot Nixon.

The dividing line between Dodger fans and Giants fans is just north of San Luis Obispo.  That's probably as close as you could locate that line between Northern and Southern California, which I propose we call the "Mucci Line."

(The fan data was based on analysis of Facebook data).

Bill,

It would be interesting to see the "lines" for the following

Mets vs Yankees
Knicks vs Nets
Giants vs Jets

Giants vs Eagles in NJ

Eagles vs Redskins

Go back to work and if Facebook doesn't have the answer, call Greg
