It is also worth mentioning that the re-grassing of the greens at Harding Park (poa to bent) has finished ahead of schedule due to the dry/warm winter weather and the greens will be open for play this Saturday, March 22.

I understand some golf writers played the course today. Perhaps we'll hear a few reviews of the "New Poppy Hills" in the near future. :D

Bill -

I am not a golf writer and I did not play Poppy Hills today, but I do have a teetime early Sunday morning at Harding. ;)

David, maybe a few of us local GCA'ers should get a starting time at Poppy for an early April look at the course.

Either Jones has learned a great deal in the last 20 years or he shouldn't have mailed it in screwed it up in the first place.

I found this interesting.  Does anyone know the system, Toro?

"while an ultra-modern irrigation system that precisely monitors and waters each square yard of the golf course, also adds to the efficiency. The more efficient watering is also designed to promote firm-and-fast play conditions and the new design lends itself to creative shot-making coming into the greens, meaning it's often better to land the ball short and play the bounces."
