Which modern holes are so good that these would deserve template status?
The Patrick Mucci thread on why copying good holes has gone out of fashion made me think. Mostly we think of copying classics, but since 1960 a lot of good holes surely have been built as well. Which of these would lend themselves to be copied or rather used as a template on most terrains? (A hole like the 7th at Old Mac would come to mind initially, but one would immediately realize that on most terrains such a hole would be impossible to copy without unrealistic amounts of earth moving, hence the addition "on most terrains").
I can think of a few only at the top of my head (having had very limited experience of modern US courses):
El Saler 8 Arana
Bandon Dunes 8 Kidd
TPC Sawgrass 17 Dye (not played but I think every course can have one hole like this, especially if it is really short from the standard tee's)
Casa de Campo 4 Dye
Houthalen 17 Hawtree
Harbour Town 18 Dye/Nicklaus (from TV)
Emporda 18 (Bosque) von Hagge
Any others come to mind?
