Dear GCA,

I am helping out with the English Deaf Golf Auction to raise funds to take the team to the World Deaf Golf Championship in USA 2014

Thanks to the help of fellow GCA'er Robin Hiseman who has managed to donate an A0 sized plan of the proposed layout changes to Princes Golf Club in Kent.

This plan is signed by the members of European Golf Design Team which makes this drawing more unique.

If you would like to place a bid on this item to add to your collection please send an email to info@englishdeafgolfassociation.com

Happy bidding!

Cheers
Ben

Very good Ben / Robin...

I've never been to Princes... But looking at that aerial it is quite noticeable that all 27 holes play parallel to the shore... quite unusual given there is ample depth to the site boundary (as opposed to just a thin out and back).... Did the original 18 have a similar configuration?

If you see the bottom left - you can see the location of the old clubhouse which is now been renovated into the Lodge at Princes and there is a NLE hole right by the beach nr the old clubhouse. It would be fascinating to see the old layout maybe I can find one in the clubhouse in a few weeks time

Cheers
Ben

Tony Muldoon posted the old routing in this thread a few years back...

Short words are best, and the old words, when short, are the best of all.

Ally, a bad (at least to me) consequence of that routing with most holes parallel to the beach is that the cross wind is constant.  I found it necessary to aim out over the thick rough to try to hit the narrow fairways.   Must be brutal over say 25 mph.
