Our friend Teddy Greenfield of the Chicago Tribune writes that there's "little doubt that Conway Farms will host (the BMW Championship) again in 2015." (The 2014 event is at Cherry Hills outside Denver.)
"Based on this week, I don't see any reason why all three parties would not want to come back to Conway Farms. This has been a great success," said John Kaczkowksi, CEO of the Western Golf Association.
Teddy references that the WGA will focus on remedying some of the logistical issues (traffic, shuttles, etc.) and notes that the WGA doesn't view the low scores negatively: "I want to see birdies and eagles. I want excitement," says a WGA VP.
He writes that beyond 2015, the tour and WGA "will consider other Chicago venues." One interesting idea....
"A new option that Kaczkowksi called 'intriguing' will open for play next summer, when the renovation of Medinah No. 1 is completed...."
Medinah offers a smart, tempered response when asked about the possibility:
"Any time you are talking about a championship opportunity, our membership has demonstrated excitement," said Medinah official Mike Crance. "We will see how it plays out."
Indeed, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
