Why would it be better if they each negotiated their own TV deal?

The Masters is a different animal.

I know it's not a popular viewpoint here, but Let's assume these guys are honest for a second...

FOX had some excellent graphics showing multiple wind velocities and vectors as the primary wind was disturbed and dispersed by the back straight grandstands at Daytona during tonight's twin duels.  Should have great relevance at the US Open. Wonder if CBS will have something comparable at Amen Corner?

Fox tabs Joe Buck and Greg Norman to anchor U.S. Open coverage:

Anticipate we'll quickly tire of Norman and end up missing Johnny Miller as a result...

The same link to golf as Johnny's current broadcast booth partner Dan Hicks.

I love Johnny.  I miss the times when Phil would do something dumb and Johnny would add such colorful commentary.  Norman is going to be boring i bet.

Only time will tell, but the most boring announcers today all seem afraid of hurting someone's feelings. Don't know if that will be an issue for Norman.

My issue with FOX is that they broadcast in 720p versus 1080i.  To my eye, the 720p doesn't look as sweet as 1080i.

I saw him hit a few shots at the American Century tournament up at Tahoe last year.  He did not look or play like a 3-4 handicap player.  I notice that he did not post his tournament scores on GHIN (unlike some other participants, such as Stephen Curry who plays out of Cal Club), so that 3-4 is possibly in the "vanity" category.

Sorry to read that he got the golf assignment.

Among the lead anchors of the U.S. Open on American TV over the years: Lindsey Nelson (1954) Chick Hearn (1959-1960), Jim Simpson (1965), Chris Schenkel (1966-1972), Jim McKay (1973-1991), Brent Musburger (1992-1994), Dick Enberg (1995-1999), and Dan Hicks (2000-present).

For those who are now complaining about Joe Buck, go down that list and tell me how many majors they have won. They are professional broadcasters. All of them cover other sports. Buck is cut from the same stripe. Why the beef?

Have you listened to any MLB (Buck-McCarver) or NFL (Buck-Aikman) games?

Many. I think he's fine. Knows what he's talking about. Brings in his partner perfectly. Speaks clearly. Throws in a funny line now and again. Doesn't take the sports he covers as religion (so he'll never work The Masters).

I'm not a big Azinger fan.

That said, Norman's shortcomings were overshadowed by the floral chick's errors last year. Dustin Johnson's situation coming up the 18th hole last year and the immediate aftermath were tailor-made for Norman - what's it like coming up 18 with a chance to win, with a putt to win, and then having given it away with an error. Norman was 'speechless' but as the lead analyst he was the only person in the world who couldn't be speechless there. And he shouldn't have been.
