2014 Ryder Cup ticket/hotel packages
« on: July 31, 2013, 01:52:02 PM »
A friend of the family is looking to line up a trip to Scotland for the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.  Their son will be studying at St. Andrews the next two years so it’s perfect timing.

Is anyone familiar with reputable travel/ticket companies that offer Ryder Cup packages?  They’re seeking the easiest/best route to obtain:
-- Luxury hotel reservations (open to location; doesn't have to be in/near St. Andrews)
-- Tickets to the three days of matches: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (fyi, ticket lottery is already closed)
-- Transportation to/from the course
-- Bundling in one or two rounds of golf in the area

They recognize that it will be expensive but cost is not really a factor.  I located the below companies offering Ryder Cup packages but am not familiar with them.  Appreciate any recommendations on these or other ideas you may have.  Thx.

We used Jerry Quinlan Celtic Golf in 2006.

They did a great job. We stayed in a Marriott and the entire package was first rate. We have used them for other trips and they have never disappointed us. They can meet all your requirements .
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

Howard,

Perry Golf is one of the best; we've used them for several trips over the last 20 years.

Howard,

I've had a lot of success with Grasshopper golf (630) 858-1660 as far as lodging, drivers and golf.  Done 3 trips with them.  Could probably save a bit and get the tix separately.  Or you could use our own Sean Arble:  http://classicbritishgolftours.com/about-us/.  Perry Golf is the big name, it just seems wasteful to piss away an extra grand or 2 needlessly.  Also nice to get a bit off the beaten path as far as interesting lodging, food and golf IMO...

Thanks, Jud.  I agree with your approach but know that these friends want it all on a silver platter.  Since the tour group operators and RC sponsors have already snapped up most of the preferred hotel rooms, they'll likely go with one of the big names.

Also I hope they realize that the Ryder Cup is freaking zoo live as far as seeing much actual golf.

I know, it's just terrible.  Howard missed all the action at Medinah.
