Left here is dead.   ;)

This from a very down-to-earth 12 hole executive course outside of Philly called Rolling Turf.  I'm assuming there are some other examples out there where a cemetery borders a course.  But I'm also thinking there are some courses where a cemetery is in play.  Examples?  Photos would be nice too.   :)

Dr. Bausch,

I seem to recall a small cemetery on the grounds of The Creek-I can't accurately recall if it was very much in play or just for an extremely bad shot, somewhere around the middle to the end of the back nine.

Jeff Brauer's Ridgeview Ranch in Plano, TX (Dallas suburb) has an old fenced in cemetery left of the 3rd green.  There are veterans of the War of 1812 buried there.  Very much in play.  It also can come into play on the 8th hole if you hit your tee ball long and right.

Lake Charles Country Club has a cemetery left of the first green.  The longtime pro Grey Little and his wife are buried there.  On another note, we had to move 12 prisoners graves who were buried on the property of Elkins Lake in Huntsville, Texas.  The property was originally owned by the TDC and they had used it as a cemetery in the early 1900's.

By the way Joe, why is it always left that is dead?

A cemetery sits to the left of the fairway at Blackmoor GC down in Murrells Inlet and at Heritage Club down in Pawleys Island, the family cemetery of those who owned the land back when it was a working plantation sits behind the 4th green. Their slaves are buried in front of the 8th tee.

Claremont Country Club in Oakland has Mountain View Cemetery to the right of the 11th and 12th holes, well within slicing territory.

Yes - there is definitely a cemetery at The Creek - 15th and/or 16th holes.  I believe there is also one on the grounds of nearby Nassau CC.

The back 9 of the Burke GC at Notre Dame played up against the campus cemetery, before it (back 9) was bulldozed for dorms and playing fields.

A couple of courses (Twin Oaks, perhaps) that I used to play in North County San Diego had Native American burial grounds in play.

The short par 4 7th hole at Kelowna Golf and Country Club, in British Columbia, plays along the edge of a cemetery at left. The cemetery is out-of-bounds, and definitely a consideration on the tee.

Gil Hanse recently added length to the par 4 2nd hole at Waverley Country Club, in Portland, Oregon, by building a new green right up against the edge of an existing cemetery, there.

Looking toward the cemetery at Waverley across Hanse's new green

And, this pic shows how close the back-left corner of the same green is to the cemetery

The southern boundary of Ridge Country Club on the south side of Chicago is a cemetery.  I don't recall it really being in play because of the trees between the edge of the fairway and the fence (it's also a pretty short par 4), but it's definitely there.

Over the tenth green at Normandie in St. Louis. Also across St. Charles Rock Road from the clubhouse along the tenth. Wish I had a picture--one of the toughest holes in town.

The long par three 11th at Minnewasta GC in Morden, Manitoba plays adjacent to a cemetery which runs the entire length of the hole along the left side.

there's a cemetery in the corner of the dogleg 17th at Painswick in England, and a busy road cutting across the landing area.  Exciting hole!

Maybe somebody has a photo.

There is a remnant of what I believe was once a Chinese cemetery 2/3's up the right side of the 1st fairway at Lincoln Park in San Francisco.

Jawbone Creek Country Club has a cemetery completely enclosed within the golf course. Their website claimed to be the only golf course with a cemetery completely enclosed within the golf course. I found that had to believe. It only took me a couple of minutes to find that Crosswater also has a cemetery completely enclosed within the golf course.

The cemetery at JCCC was on the lefty slice side on 2, 5, and 6. Needless to say I have made a few visits.

Great shout out to Rolling Green Joe!  I never thought I would ever see it mentioned on GCA.  I spent many of my first rounds here with my uncle who lives about a mile from the golf course.

To add to the thread, Heritage Links in New Jersey is a small 9 holer with a VERY OLD cemetary (1600's IIRC) that was started when settlers came to the Jersey Shore and formed a small whaling town.  I don't have any pictures of it unfortunately, but it's right in the middle of the golf course and just off the 8th hole.
