A few days in Myrtle Beach ...
« on: March 21, 2013, 12:06:25 PM »
I escaped the cold of New England for a few days in Myrtle Beach this week. Perfect weather. Played a bunch of courses I'd never seen before. True Blue was by far my favorite, followed by Caledonia, Barefoot - Love, and Wild Wing Avocet. Here are a few crappy iPhone pics. Not sure of the hole numbers ... it was a whirlwind golf orgy.

No Legends Heathlands? :(

Nope. I've played there before and wanted to see some different courses. Plus, the last time I was at Heathland they had a deal that was something like breakfast, a bucket of beer, golf cart and 18 holes for $40. So it was packed with yahoos. I actually saw a legitimate fight on the course that resulted in a chewed up green and a bloody nose.

Dan,

For your convenience, I went ahead and corrected your above quote...no thanks necessary.

You missed the fine print about the additional free entertainment.  Sounds like a value proposition to me.

Actually, there's more to that story. Right after the fight, that foursome let my twosome play through. So I was teeing off on a par 5 under the glare of a pissed off dude with blood streaming out of his face. I holed out my second shot for the only double-eagle of my golfing life. We were then joined by a twosome of young pros from New Jersey who just got to the course after driving all night. On the next hole, a par 3, I hit to within an inch. A few holes later, one of the pros collapsed into his cart, groaned that he was so hungry he could eat the ass out of a skunk, and fell asleep. We finished the round and went inside for lunch. The pugilist group came in after us and paid for a replay and another bucket of beers.
