My father and I can do last weekend of April, not March.

Does anyone know the aeration schedule for Wine Valley - if any event takes place I would prefer to play in the best conditions possible.

I know from last summer (midweek late June) there were some substantial deals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These specials have been removed from the current Wine Valley website.

I even found that after playing 3 days in a row the staff started to waive the cart fee - we were however playing after 12pm and the course didn't seem busy until the after work crowd started showing up at 3pm.

Maybe there is a chance for a group discount if everyone is needing to play weekends ?

Ted - not sure on the schedule, but Wine Valley does the small plugs.  We played right after aeration last year and you couldn't even tell.  The greens were smooth.

We have a teaching pro who likes to play competitive golf.  He’s one of my projects:  trying to deprogram him and get him to look at golf from a more creative perspective.  He first played WV last year and didn’t like it much.  He played it again recently and grudgingly admitted it was beginning to grow on him.  I haven’t played it and only know about it from this site.  So, my expectations were for a quality design and I encouraged him to play it.  Sounds like progress.

Further off topic, I often wonder if good golfer really can appreciate the architecture while trying to shoot a score?  Did he like it more because he knew it better and shot a better score?  I'll have to ask.

March and April didn't work out for various reasons.  Lets try for June 1-2, noonish on Saturday, early on Sunday. I can get tee times next week. Please PM/IM me. As a bonus, the Walla Walla Sweets Rollergirls are jamming. This is midway between the Kings Putter and the Fifth Major.

Actually, there have been a few bunker changes there since these photos were taken.  Time to check 'em out.

i read about Wine Valley hosting eastern WA Open qualifying and Gold Mountain hosting western WA qualifying and Chambers Bay hosting the big event..  I know GM & CB.. how does WV compare to CB?

So how much you "fork" out for a tee TINE?

There is no "headquarter" hotel, but I made a reservation for a room with two beds at the Comfort Suites for Saturday night. Willing to share, 1/2 is just under $80.
CS and HIExpress are on US12 on the outskirts of Walla Walla nearest Wine Valley.

Michael and Matthew Essig have confirmed. They noted the Hampton Inn has a stay and play package, which may be worthwhile since you are responsible for your own golf/lodging.  Also Mr Essig mentioned Saturday dinner at the Brasserie Four in Walla Walla and wanted to know how many for a reservation.

Dinner (other than the Essigs).

Re: Wine Valley - June 1-2 full Saturday, openings on Sunday
« Reply #46 on: May 09, 2013, 01:34:38 AM »
I am thinking about organizing a weekend outing to Wine Valley (Walla Walla. WA) either the last weekend in March or the last weekend of April, or both. Golf would be Saturday noonish and Sunday morning. Greens fees in March are $45, April $85. Tyring to gauge interest. On the April date I could probably rope in some of my club members. There might be some stay and play packages which could lower the price.

Both dates are now out. We have tee times on June 1-2., the weekend after Memorial Day.  2:00 and 2:10 on Saturday. 8:00 and 8;10 on Sunday morning. Please IM/PM me if you can make it. Bonus, the Walla Walla Sweets Rollergirls are jamming. Whitman College students will have left. Wine spring releases are the previous weekend.

The Essigs are staying at the Hampton Inn, which has a stay and play package. Since everyone is responsible for their own golf/lodging this may be a good option. ME is also setting up saturday night dinner at Brasserie Four, let him know if you can't make it or are coming with s.o./spouse

Players:
Peter Pittock
Bob Jenkins
Slag Bandoon (N Painter)
Mike Christensen

Richard Choi - Sat only
Victor Santodomingo - Sat only
Michael Essig
Matthew Essig

Still on, I haven't heard of any cancellations or additions. Off to the Ford dealership in Coos Bay early in the morning
