Anyone have any detail on the master planning work being done at Shinnecock with C&C?

While I don't know for sure, I assume it's in preparation for the future US open.  I did read somewhere that this included re-contouring of the fairways and I'd assume after the '04 Open that they would have to address the slopes in the greens, or atleast not get them that fast.

I know the club is adding a tee box to 18 and removed the building to the side of the clubhouse.

On a recent visit I was led to believe they will be adding new tees.  The ones I recall were:

#2 Par 3 - i vaguely recall 240-250 yds?
#3 Par 4 - possibly new tee near #8 green
#10 Par 4 - Tee across the road near the clubhouse
#16 Par 5 - new tee will be near the tree back right of the 5th green
#18 as paul mentioned

I feel a little sad about the removal of the building as it was the former superintendent's house. But there is no denying that it will improve the "look back" view of the clubhouse.

Does anyone know where the Super ended up? He did a wonderful job at the club.

A member told me about some of the work on #6. Unfortunately I do not remember much of the details. Something about removing the bailout area on the right, over the pond and replacing it with waste area. Could be neat!

Ron Whitten via Twitter: Design beat: Coore restored massive freeform bunker complex between 5 & 6 at Shinnecock Hills, visible in Flynn plans & early photos.

Paul,
Mark recently took the job at Brook Lea CC near Rochester, NY which is close to home for him.
