I'm not touching that one Pat !

Archie,

I was playing in an event and on the 16th tee there was a big commotion as about 6 of the green crew were yelling and smacking their rakes and shovels on the pond.  When our group approached the pond we could see that a goosling leg was in the jaws of a large snapping turtle and all of the geese were making a commotion, disturbed that the goosling was in distress as the turtle was trying to pull it under.

It was too far out of reach for the rakes and shovels.
So, I took off my golf shoes and jumped into the pond.

1     It was deeper than I thought
2     It had a soft mud bottom
3     The water was stagnant and black
4     Once I jumped in I sank up to my neck

As I waded to get to the goosling I thought to myself, I bet there are other snapping turtles in this pond.
Now, I had caught large snapping turtles at other clubs, one with the head about the size of a football.
They could cut your wrist in half and take a few fingers for fun.
So, now, I'm thinking about my private parts and their vulnerability as I wade toward the goosling.
So, I cover them with one hand.  It really would have taken several hands, but, one was all I could spare  ;D
So, I get to the turtle and goosling and figure, if I grab the goosling, the turtle will just pull it's leg off.
So, I grab the turtle, and it's big.  but, it let's the goosling go and it paddle quickly to it's parents
I now wade over to the edge, and get out of the pond.
Everything I have on is almost pitch black.
I play in, birdying # 17 and parring # 18.

I walk into the Pro Shop, where Billy Ziobro was the Pro, and everyone in the pro-shop looks at me in stunned silence.
I then announce that the golf course is totally unfair and that they should have a local rule where you don't have to play out of hazards, especially water hazards.

Now, they really look at me and can't believe what they're seeing and hearing.
Billy is laughing his ass off.
From my neck down, everything is mud black.

I then go into the locker room, take off my clothes, shower, change into fresh clothes and go back and play the front nine, while the lockerman puts my clothes in the washer/dryer.

That night at dinner, I was given an award/plaque and named the Captain, and sole member, of the Atlantic City CC Swim Team.

It's a fact, check it out with Billy.
