but the list of contributors should be kept private
I am fortunate to participate on this site and gladly help out with $ as I do on other sites
while being generous here is a good thing, some folks can misuse this information with no repercussions
thank you
Why should it be private? Postings made by those who do and don't contribute are public. As others here have pointed out, the contributions tab is small and voluntary to click on, and has been here far longer than you (and anyone else who has complained about it).
The rules for participation and site functionality on this site belong to exactly two people, Ran & Ben, period. Not you, nor I or anyone else. Their time and graciousness has facilitated a vast amount of information, construction (and otherwise) conversation, personal and professional bonds, and a veritable lifetime of architectural education. All of this comes with a cost and those who spend hours posting here should unquestionably make a financial contribution that enables them to qualify as a productive member of this treehouse. The amount is voluntary so whether it's $10 or $100 matters not.
Some people waste a ton of space here, adding little in terms of content, and even less in financial support. Is that a sustainable model for an meaningful and influential website?
As for Pat, I know the man and while his online personality allows for questioning on occasion, his offline presence does not. He is a generous, kind, occasionally intelligent (
) funny and entertaining man. He's single-handedly done more for the spread of the GCA gospel than 95+% of those who waste black ink on these pages. And, btw...he can flat out play.
That said, like Sweeney, I'm a seller of Pat's ability to find himself admittable today to ND (without friends greasing the skids
)......but then again Mike Sweeney, could you or I get into our respective Ivies today either? I, for one, highly doubt it!!
