I'm at Rock Creek right now.  We built wide fairways here to try and keep the ball out of the native roughs, because the native roughs have 1,000,000 rocks, and there was no good way to clean out the rocks without destroying the native grasses.

However, there are carries from tee to fairway on most of the holes, so I don't think it's close to 86 acres of fairway here.  I haven't seen Wolf Point yet, but my impression is that there are relatively few carries from tee to fairway, even from the back tees.  THAT is how you wind up with a lot of fairway.

There are few carries at WP, but the tee connection to the fwys is very similar to what we are doing at DR, a swath of turf large enough to handle cart and maintenance traffic, and drag a gang mower through. Its not like the fwys are 40 yards wide 20 yards off the tee and even though the back tees are connected to the fwy by a strip of turf, you often do have to carry native to get to the proper side of the fwy.

Below the darker green is short grass
The GIANT lawn in the middle (1, 4 & 5 fairways) adds a lot of short grass.
And I've seen players use every bit of it.

Looking at the picture, I'm reminded how there was supposed to be a little more short grass turf on #7 - it is a pretty long carry from one of the tees.

I would bet it is Old Mac but Bulls Bay has quite a bit.

I don't think an invitation will be forthcoming any time soon, although it looks like an absolute blast to play. I think you may be correct that this has as much short grass as any routing I have seen. I am sure this was just as much fun to build as it looks like it is to play.

Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, FL is a 36-hole Greg Norman design that does not have any rough on either course.  I do not think either course has 86 acres of fairway, but they do have a lot.

Ooh, I forgot that one.  Yes, it would include the range, but I think it's right that we planted 115 acres of TifSport between the range and the fairways and tees ... I can't remember if they mow some of it at rough height or not.  The whole golf course was something over 200 acres of turf!

Prairie Club-Dunes has approximately 78 acres of fairways, not including greens or tees.

FWIW, Sand Hills has approx. 43 acres, as does Pac Dunes.
Bandon Dunes has about 45, Wild Horse has approximately 49, Rustic Canyon 50, and Kapalua Plantation 52 acres.
