Somebody likes the new 8th hole at Olympic
« on: June 12, 2012, 12:09:45 AM »
Pictures of the new, par-3 8th hole at Olympic are on the cover of the current issue of LINKS Magazine and the U.S. Open Spectator Information Guide pamphlet. It is also the hole depicted on the official poster for this U.S. Open, with the hole viewed from behind the green looking back toward the tee.

It may or may not be a "better" hole than the old #8, but someone sure likes the look of it. ;)

I had noticed that it seemed to be getting lots of coverage. This time next year we will have threads like this about Merion, I'm sure those will end well. ::)

Also used on the entrance page to Golf Digest's Open coverage in the June issue.

Glad to see the map and overhead shots are back in GD. In the 80s I looked forward to the June issue of GD the most because there was usually a big color foldout map of the venue available. I tore them out and put them on my wall as posters. I still have some kept in a file folder going back to Oakland Hills in '85.

I remember when I was a kid the majors preview of Golf Digest were great, no it's really crappy. You're lucky if you get more than 2 articles on the PGA.
