9 at Harbortown

One of the announcers expressed disappointment with 9 at Harbortown because there is nothing about the hole that tempts players to be aggressive off the tee.  Due to the overhanging trees and the difficulty of getting up and down around the green, nearly every player lays up. 

It seems like a credible criticism.  Should the hole be changed to encourage more aggression off the tee?

Some guys did hit it into the greens side bunker for an easy up and down.  I think it is one of the weaker holes on the course.  The horseshoe green is kind of interesting though.

It doesn't need to be changed.
You can drive it into the front bunker for a fairly easy up and down.

Does it say something about the game and maintenance of hazards when a player will risk trees and OB in order to be rewarded with a "an easy up and down" from a bunker? ??? ;D ;) ???

9 is a second shot hole for most golfers - the green is very shallow, front to back and, to me, itz fun to play.

I don't know how deep that pot bunker on the inside, back of the horseshoe green is now, but early on, it was deep and really a problem with a center pin placement

similarly, the  pot behind the par-3 14 was super deep originally, but was filled in a lot over the years .......   14 green was originally vrey small but it, too, was expanded a lot as was the originally, small, 15th green

Having been in that pot bunker behind the green two years ago it was a bear. I love the shape of that green, so many options for good pin positions and an accurate wedge is a must.

IMHO I love the hole the way it is, challange the trees with a well placed drive and it's a flip wedge.

Neat hole and a good breather between 8, 10 and 11. However I could be wrong but I think it fits in nicely. Land fit for the purpose as one would say.

I liked 9. It's memorable for being so short. I think there are options, but it's not necessarily driveable. Not all short par 4's need to be driveable. The challenge on #9 (as others have mentioned) is how incredibly tiny the green is. It's not a sure thing to hit it with a flip wedge!

Probably a better hole for the majority of people that play there than it is for the pros.
