Houston Area Course Suggestion this Monday 3-12
« on: March 09, 2012, 04:19:56 PM »
Looking for a course suggestion or game in Houston this Monday.  Staying near the Woodlands the night before, and may just play GD rated 4.5 star Oaks nearby.

Perhaps there is a more mature gem in the area ?  I am from NJ and am not familiar with area.

Weather looks good for Monday, storms over the weekend.

Would it make sense to drive to Austin Sunday Eve - looks like less rain there.  Must be some good music joints - too.

Bill, I like Austin a lot, and it dries out faster...plus as ZZ Top sings, you could stop in La Grange on the way ;D

You'll be hard pressed to find lodging in Austin over the next week thanks to the big South by Southwest show.

Don is right - you'll be playing out of a boat here in Houston on Monday.  Try the rodeo instead.

Bill,

Houston has lots of good restaurants, but basically no golf courses, especially if you think like a person who grew up in the NY/Philly area.

Kyle I might have said the Mens Club over the rodeo. lol  Tim I would say Houston is great course poor. It has a fair number of good courses. There are 4 or more very good courses within 30 minutes of where Bill is staying. The area balances lack of greatness with 12 months of good golf weather.

The Oaks isn't very good. I just left The Woodlands and it's very wet, like every part of town right now. If you want I might be able to play or meet you for lunch on Monday.

Wow Tim, we don't have great courses but we have lots of solid golf courses, we play 12 months, and I've never seen us measure our dicks over who really designed a course.
