Golf in Nimes?
« on: March 02, 2012, 06:53:27 AM »

I’m playing a tournament next month in southern France and wonder if any of you have golfed your ball there and can offer any advice.  From the website http://www.golfnimescampagne.com/ it looks as if I should ditch the 64 degree lob wedge and replace it in my bag with a chain saw.  Will this make the course more strategic than penal?  More importantly, there is a **Mhicelin restaurant www.michelkayser.com/. within staggering distance of the 19th hole. I understand that some of you know this Mike Kayser guy.  If so can you get him to comp me (I’d be happy with just the 100 Euro prix fixe early bird special)?

Thanks in advance

He's back!

How do we know it's really him?

It could be Anthony in disguise; he's apparently misspelled Keiser as "Kayser.".  ;D

Bienvenue, mon ami. Il fait trop longtemps. Le golf dans la ancienne ville de Nimes? Malhereusement, je ne connait personne la. Mais il y'a des restaurants et bars a Nimes....

A bientot, j'espere.

Bob

P.S. Have you played Hyeres? Would love to know more about its current state.

Robere, Frere de Bing

Ca va bien.  Est vous?  As for grub, Mike Keiser's place (see URL above/voir locatiseur uniquement regarder au-dessus) does look good, particulalry the 165 Euro Menu au Trufe.  Can one die from eating too many truffles at one sitting?  Ou est les neiges d'antan?  As for the state of Hyeres...  Tennessee, maybe?

Bill

You check out the URL too

Scott

Back for at least a little while, unless someone comps me for a boat ride to South Uist to join all those desperately seeking evidence of Melvyn's spikemarks on the bents of Askernish...

And thanks to all the other hundreds who have IMed me with their kind thoughts (even you Anthony).

Rich

Welcome, Rich!  I look forward to reading your good thoughts again, in either of Canada's two official languages, and also in British or American.

Best

Great to see you back, Rihc.  Though you appear to have been lurking.

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

He misspelled Michelin correctly though.

Back, how dare you take so long in returning, anyway you have been missed.

As you can see I am apparently the The Scarlet Pimpernel Of Askernish,

that Ausi seeks him everywhere.
Is he in Heaven (St Andrews) is he in Hell (Buckie)?
That elusive golfing Pimpernel.

Oh! I see now!

Golf in Nimes.

I thought that was another of your tardemark tyops, and you were asking about Golf in Mines.

I was going to recommend Jeff Brauer's The Quarry at Giants Ridge!

I thought you might be about to debate the allowing of the wearing of Jeans on so many of our golf courses...

Welcome back. Spring has surely sprung in Aberdour. Yippee!

No, but that grip (The CLAW [tm])  looks like something a Vulcan would devise.

It is good to see you back Captain Rihc. Mike restaurants at Bandon would not make your cut unless you yearn for a plate lunch. The food is good but very bland and dare I say midwestern in an Oregon sort of way.

Le Tigre

Laissez les bonjours roulez!

The restaurant of which I speak in my opening post (www.michelkayser.com) is the "Alexandre" outside of Nimes which is a legitimate ** place which would bear absolutley no resemblance to any eatery within 500 miles of Bandon.

Monsieur le Marque de Bourgeois

Voyez sur-dessus.  Restaurant Alexandre.  Voulez vous m'y comper un repas?

Dan Kelly (tm)

There is in fact an historical relationship between The Claw (tm) and the Vulcan death grip, and it is not necessarily the fact that William Shatner is my doppelganger....

....for which thanks, Tony, as well as for the pciture

FBD

Good call on the denim coincidences.  Do you think there will be a statue to Levi Strauss in Nimes?  BTW I'm going to call you "Fatba" from now on just in case I ever need a rhyme with "fitba."

Tout le Monde

It looks as if I'm going to have to figure out how to play Nimes Campagne by myself, on the day, but mercis for all the kind pensees anyway....

Since neither Tony or FBD will mention it, that was Rich putting for an eagle. Of course by the time he hit the putt it was too dark to tell if he got it  :)
